San Francisco/Bay Area shop recomendations?
Wondering if anyone has a recommendation where i can take my car (2009 subaru outback 2.5XT) in and have parts installed? Need someone who has knowledge of these cars who can take my car, swap out stock parts, install new parts and make sure everything is buttoned up and worry free when I drive off the lot.
Have coilovers, rear upper and lower control arms, and new wheels that i would like to install. Possibly a brembo brake kit + SS lines for all 4 sides and a master cylinder. Thought about doing it myself however im not in a place to be able to let my car sit half finished and I know for me something like this will take me more than a day to install plus maybe more days to fiddle with the setup to get it right.

San Francisco/Bay Area shop recomendations?
Hit Werkshop in SSF. They pretty much do mostly Subies. Ask for Andy Or.

I've been to a couple shops in the Bay Area for parts install and tunes, but I now go to EQT in Fairfield. I'll actually take a day off work to drive there for the day as I'm in South Bay

I went with GST Motorsports in Hayward.
Cannot recommend Mike and his work enough. Solid guy, guided me through the process, professional, communicative. I'll not be going anywhere else. |

In the East Bay, I highly recommend GST Motorsports and RBMS Auto. hey are both located in Hayward. Mert from RBMS used to work with Mike in GST, but now runs his own shop on the same street. They know what they are doing.

YIKES! LIC Motorsports of Novato CLOSED!
Dreadful news. My favorite mechanics shop EVER, LIC Motorsports has closed.
I loved this place; the mechanics were thorough, honest, and great to talk to. They LOVED Subarus. Kept my old 'preza going past the 2 decade mark, and they were easing my Forester into a groovy old age. I broke the news to the old car ... it cried a little oil when it thought I wasn't looking. Are there any other decent Subaru doctors in the North Bay/Marin area? Or will I be driving to Fairfield or Hayward for the rest of my Subie's life?? |

damn why did LIC shutdown? I was about to take my car there for it's 90k service.
it seemed like they had a lot of loyal customers, lots of good reviews, my only experience was good, rent couldn't have been that expensive at their location in Novato(relative to marin prices). The only thing I can think of is that they didn't install parts unless you bought the parts through them and I think a lot of WRX owners like to purchase their parts themself and either install it themselves or have it installed somewhere but they don't really like to buy the parts through the shop that's installing the parts. I don't think they marked up the parts but it's just one of those things. I really assumed they were doing well. The shop was in an awkward location, small and tight to get into the back of building it was located in, but it was really clean and nice. |

5J's Auto San Jose?
Hey all, what are your thoughts for 5J's Auto in San Jose? I live in the Central Coast and brought my 13 WRX there for some tranny work. They were willing to pop open my tranny to replace bearings. Nobody here on the Central Coast would do that.

Who is reputable for a 2017 Valve Clean? West or south bay preferable down San Jose if I have to. Just moved here recently.
Tried Auto HQ and took forever to get responses to voicemails and emails, they kept calling me by the wrong name and quoting for the wrong car once I did get in touch. |

GarageOne in SSJ or GST would still be my recommendations.

For South Bay, highly recommend RS West in Morgan Hill. Specialize in (jdm) engine builds but they do everything. Hidden gem...
