Might be ignoring you since they have a long wait for the service, that way when you call later they won’t have to give you a loaner as long. I would call again.

They should not charge you for plugs since they remove them for the repair .

Yes they pull the plugs to put air in the cylinder to hold the valves in place while the springs are changed. My dealer offered to replace the plugs for only $150 instead of the usual $299.
Hmmm OEM plugs are $41 at Rockauto..... |

$41 was for 4 shipped, not each. And Amazon adds on sales tax also....

Appointment 4/12. Soonest they had. San Diego.
Said it could take up to four weeks. Explicitly stated Subaru was covering rentals and they will go through Enterprise. They will call back with an estimate on TOB and release fork, if I'm using the correct nomenclature for that part. EDIT: Called back a couple hours later to my surprise. $145 out of pocket. Will probably drop the stock intake back in just so they don't lose the parts for the CAI. Last edited by CalTech87; 02-18-2019 at 05:43 PM. |

I have this recall on my 2012 FRS. I'm scheduled for May and they told me it would take 3-4 days. I never asked about a loaner but now I see it may be a possibility. Another thing that worried me is I have an HKS Supercharger installed. I hope they'll put it back together properly....I can give feedback when/if it gets done!

Received recall in Jan ---about 2 weeks later I called and was then transferred to corporate---explained my concerns told they would contact the dealer and I would get a loaner until the repair could be done. Dealer never called so I called the recall# and they called the dealer said I was limiting the car's use to local and that I did not trust the car.
Assured that I would get a loaner---Dealer calls and says they are swamped and there is 157 cars ahead of me and I would only get a loaner when the job is done scheduled for April!! Told if the car is running ok you won't have an issue---and if something does happen the car just stops---on the throgs neck bridge? The Hutch? I mention that Corp called them in Jan and suddenly I am on the list. Anyone know any other brand of 4wheel drive with traction control that is RELIABLE? BTW at 60,000 service this car needed a new tranny!!!Get the car back after a week (I had a Loaner) proceed to run errands as my husband was scheduled for a knee replacement---get into the dw and see a trail of stains and took a photo of a stain about 12" in diameter----tranny was not "sealed" properly. Back to the dealer had to wait as they had no loaners. |

I'm not really into large vehicles, but it was pretty nice. Comfortable ride and the power seemed adequate, I liked the sound of the engine. I didn't check if it had snow tires on but it handled pretty well in ice and snow anyways.

I called my dealer today, they said they would only give a loaner for the three days the vehicle was in for repair, even though 1 April is the earliest appointment available. Now to try corporate for a different answer...

Had my recall completed
So I had my recall completed for my 13 Impreza Sport Limited and car seems to run good. Had the sparks done while they were in there and the usual 60k stuff. I have 58k on her now. Seems like a different beast all together now. Acceleration is good and I see they replaced a lot of parts in the engine. I am wondering If I should keep it or trade if for a 19 Crosstrek since the engine was practically rebuilt. I have the oil consumption issue and never had them fix that. I was offered $10k on trade and I got a $1k coupon from Subaru. I am debating to just trade her in. Any thoughts from fellow owners?

Also they only swapped the springs unless they have to replace gaskets during the recall, what do you mean by they basically rebuilt the engine? |

Plugs are simple on this car, I don’t understand everybody’s fascination with plugs on this recall.

If I can get free service why not? I don’t mind doing it but would rather do something else with my time.

Hi flyboy1100, if I go in for the recall I would like to get the throw out bearing replaced and ask them to regrease the fork. Car currently close to 115k miles. I recall in your engine out thread that the clutch disc still had plenty of life left so I am tempted to leave the other parts alone. Does this sound like a good plan?

I realize they need to R&R them anyway, but they aren’t making much money so I would think they would be annoyed to install plugs they didnt sell for “free” |

as for your question: it depends on how much your oil consumption issue is bothering you (how severe). |
