I haven't driven my car for 8 months
I been away from home and my wrx 04 has been sitting outside of my apartment for 8 months now. I know for a fact my battery is dead because i did not discount the cables and gas tank is 3/4 full. I be coming home next month but i would like to know what kind of problem would I expect for leaving my car out for that long? also could my alternator be dead? thanks in advance

other than flat spots on your tires, you'll be fine. Just top off with fresh fuel and get an oil change. don't drive it hard till the old fuel is used up.

I don't feel like draining 3/4 of fuel out my tank thats way too much fuel. I want to go ahead and use the old fuel, it wouldn't cause serious damage to my engine right? I mention that i left my car outside expose to the weather so won't there be a problem with my brake system?

I parked my car for 8 months in my garage once. the battery was dead so I brought it to autozone for them to recharge (they do this for free). after I reinstalled the battery I changed oil and filter and just I let it warm up for a min and drove slowly to the gas station to fill up with new gas.

I didnt drive my wrx for 6 monthes and it was outside. Other than really rusted rotors that eventually wear off. I had a dead battery replaced that fired right up. Had half a tank of gas in here filled it up with gas asap and didnt get into boost for the rest of that gastank then i was fine.

oh yah I forgot the mention, I added redline fuel system cleaner when I got gas too. I figured it would help with moisture in the tank and lines, and help with any gunk in the lines. I then changed oil again after a week or so before my next tank of gas( I usually change oil when I use fuel sys cleaner).

I've resurrected several cars that sat for *YEARS*. One, my GF's current daily driver, sat in a field for 3 years and was basically a zoo inside. I generally just put in a new battery and fire it up. It should be safe to idle and limp around like that, just do an oil change ASAP and fill the tank with fresh fuel when you can. Also not all tires will flat spot from sitting. You'll know soon enough if yours have. |

Maybe use some octane boost? Can anyone support that, would it work?

I left my car sitting outside for 8 months...just changed the oil and topped off the gas tank. I would also check for small woodland creatures that might have decided to climb their way into your car, found two mouse nests (that reads funny) and a whole pile of mouse crap in the back of my car...thing still smells like piss.

Seafoam - That **** works wonders on gas. Works better when you add it before you leave, but it will make your gas a little better than whats in it currently.
