My car's 96km service is coming soon and I got a quote from the Richmond Subaru:

96000km - A+B+C+D+F Service price starts at $874.90 and this price is excluding levies, shop charges and tax.

I originally bought my car from Docksteader and have been bringing there for regular maintenance but the price they gave me was for some reason $20 more than what Richmond Subaru quoted me.

So you're switching dealers because of a 2% price difference?

Another +1 for Kon. Keep in mind that his shop is more oriented for someone that wants a cheap fix to get the vehicle back on the road quick. I concur with others that he is hard to understand, so you will need to specify clearly what you are trying to achieve for your car.

Question Is Kon intimately familiar with JDM engines as well?

Are you guys all referring to 5 Zigen at HBL Autosports? Gawd, it's difficult running a search and finding info on someone here when the incorrect username is repeatedly posted! LOL

Did you go to Kon's shop? With this being such an old thread, I was wondering if he was still recommended.

I'm having engine issues with my JDM '98 Impreza STi. HBL Autosports was recommended to me... but I live literally two minutes away from Kon's shop. It would be a whole lot more convenient for me to see Kon, as long as he's familiar with the EJ20K.

You're not a relative of his, are you? Just kidding, thanks for the feedback.

HBL Autosports was the place recommended by several people at autocross (Pitt Meadows), but I'm concerned that my car won't make it out to Richmond in its present running condition.

If I don't receive any dissenting opinions in the next week or so, I'll go see Kon.

Tow it. Ask HBL if they have recommendations for towing. The $100 or so isn't so bad if you're taking it somewhere you trust.

Okay, I'm curious now.

Was your comment a ringing endorsement of HBL, and/or a stinging condemnation of Kon?

Seriously, it would be quite helpful to know which it is.

Lots of people I know have gone to Kon because they lived in the area. All of them have the same things to say about Kon, honest guy, doesn't try to upsell, the place ain't pretty but your car will get fixed.

Trust is something you build with your mechanic. Also almost every shop will have unsatisfied customers.

Hahahaha I don't work or related to Kon. I take my car to another shop in Richmond and not HBL.
