Default POLL : Seller/ Buyers Protection

Mods if this is not the correct place to place this poll, then it wont fit anywhere.

Lets take a POLL to see if the mods will agree to make a change to the way business is conducted here.

I would like to suggest that with all the scammers out there that in order to " Post" a " For Sale" thread the seller include a link/ picture with the date of post and the NASIOC user name on a sheet of paper in the picture. This will ensure that the item is what is advertised and that it is ready for shipment.

It's a good idea, but not everyone has access to a digital camera... Plus, it's your obligation to do some homework on the seller, not NASIOC'S.

I never intended to have the MODS have to screen everyone, they read the for sales probably as much as everyone else, but if they inact the rule people will follow it.
There are enough people here that at least try to inform others when they are making mistakes.
And the Mods could assure everyone that if sellers are caught not doing right they could be banned from selling or even being a member.
I have never had a problem buying or selling here, but everyday more and more people are.
About the digital camera thing, if you dont have one by now I can almost gaurantee you that everyone knows someone who does have one and wouldnt mind helping a buddy out.

You need to start a scammers thread for this, have you contacted whoever you are talking about. Whats the entire story?

Well this thing is pending at the moment.
I bought a set of Defi gauges, controller, and pod for $700 nearly 2 weeks ago.
I sent the money via paypal and the seller said that he sent it out priority mail from PA. I checked on the time for that package and it was 2 days (shipped wensday) No package Fri,Sat. So i contacted the seller and to my amazment he did not insure the package nor did he use any type of tracking or delivery verifacation

After a very nasty email; from me the other day he got back and opolgized saying he was new to this and he was sorrry for the upset.

Well the problem now is USPS will not look into it until 30 days after being shipped and i'm sure paypal will say the same. I am nearly convinced i wont get the package and this sucks.

This was bad on the sellers part, $700 aint peanuts and you dont ship expensive goods without verifacation. Not at my expense anyway. He should be banned for not following Nasioc guidelines. And xhe says he new to this? He had his 17 yearold daughter take the package for him.

Believe me i will go as far as it takes to get my money back even if it costs more in legal costs.

Small claims court is the ticket. You can file and even make it so he pays the court costs.
In the end you may not get your money back, but you will have piece of mind.

One more thing. Are you sure he even sent it. An honest person would be making you a copy of the receipt and scan it to you. Also with USPS the shipper has to initiate tracking action. If he really believes the package is lost, he should go to the post office and even though he did not use insurance ect. the USPS can track the shippment. That is if he ever shipped it. I would ask him for a copy of the receipt and it should have your name, address on it and be the exact date that he claims originally have sent it. Also most packages still have an automatic insurred amount, I think $100 for USPS, a far cry off the $700, but something for you to look into.

Steve,
If the guy wouldnt spend $3 to $4 on insurance you think he would pay $12.50 for escrow.com?

This is an idea that has been working on all electronic resale forums like O/C Club and shoe forums.

Take a pic of the product with a piece of paper in the pic that shows your username in it.

Mods at sole collector have gathered that this method decreases fraud by 80% on their forums!
