Default Might be moving to cali but my car has aftermarket parts! HELP!

Hey guys I have a quick question. I may be getting new orders to California, not sure on the area yet since I haven't picked it out, may be San Diego. Its just a possibility I'm able to pick cali for my next command. Anyway I already have a 2013 wrx but it has a go amount of aftermarket parts already in it, I do know a little bit of how restrictive cali is with car mods. So I need advice, what can I do so I can get approval for all the parts already installed into the car? I know you need some kind of executive order for the parts if they are as close or identical to stock parts as possible. So if I already have these parts installed what can I do about getting ny car there and not drive around this "illegal" car haha. I hope this makes some sense of what I was asking for. If you need the full list lmk.
.Stock turbo and engine
.Id 1300 injectors
.Aem 340 fuel pump
.Flex fuel kit and all parts needed for it, sensor as well
. Fortune 500 springs
.Gfb 50/50 bov
.38mm ewg
. Grimmspeed up, down, cross pipe.
.cobb acessport v3 of course
. Invidia r400 exaust system I belive, not sure if its below the 95 decimal sound though.
. And a few more items

File the military non-resident form. You don't need to become a Communist and put the chip in your skull so California can control your thoughts.

But if I'm married and my wife will be moving to my station in Cali with me . We would be getting on base housing. Is there any way I can still get it or apply for that?

Thank you so much for the straight link and help !

I'd ask around when you get on base. I'm sure you're going to find what the practical solution is. I would think that for military, your home state can be other than where you're based as the military can move you anywhere, anytime. I know it's that way for taxes.

you can keep your car registered in another state, you don't have to register in Cali....my friend had his car registered in FL and I always kept my car registered in AL..you just need to have someone with an address to ship the registration to in whatever state. You will have to get it smog tested to be able to drive it on post/base though so just be prepared to find a good "smog shop" for that...

as long as the car isn't registered to California, you don't have to do emissions/inspections etc.
as for can cops mess with you, yeah they can

As your military in a military town
Think you will be good

I would be proactive in getting ***8216;stickers' as current as you can b4 move
In TX, you can buy 3yr registration sticker instead on 1yr
Now in TX, you still need yearly inspections
But
If your in CA......the plate and registration sticker current....your golden

CA has pretty much nazi's working for state emissions
Friend of mine with swapped GC8 showed up, state dude busted out a book of photos of all engine bays of all stock cars.......crazy crap

The answer to any cop is ALWAYS: I just got there on friday, I'm in town for 2 weeks of training and then leaving.

One of the loopholes for most states is 30 days in state = full swapover of plates, license, etc. Avoid this dramatacism by using the above.

Per Military.com

California

If you are a nonresident member of the military stationed in California, you can drive a vehicle as long as your out-of-state license remains valid and you're insured.

From CA DMV

As others mentioned before, as long as wherever your vehicle is registered doesn't require emissions etc (I.E. FL) then you are good. I did 3 years in LA/LB with a WRX full cat-less, never had an issue. Had a friend run into a problem, CA was cracking down on people cheating the system (had limo tints, lead to not registering to CA if a resident) but he fortunately had his orders on him (someone else told him to always keep orders in the car) and the cop just warned him on the tints (limo isn't legal anywhere lol)
Somebody said you'll have to do emissions test to get a pass to be on base? Thats completely false, they don't care.

I love in Cali. Love is sweet no matter where you live!

Anyhow, I agree with you to the point my family is looking to bounce. This is coming from someone who most of you would consider a tree hugging, bleeding heart liberal. There is just no common sense!

Anyhow, Dahulk69, first off thank you for your service to our country. My opinion and limited anecdotal experience in the SF Bay Area is that law enforcement is very lenient with service members. It's no guarantee, but hopefully should give you some peace of mind. This was a while ago, but I was in the passenger seat of a Mustang being driven by an MP in the national guard. He laid down some tracks at a stop light, hit about 65 in a 35, then we got pulled over. He was over the legal limit, but not much, and I had not been drinking. Cop gave us both sobriety tests, asked if I could drive stick, gave a stern warning, and we were on our way with me behind the wheel of his car. Oh, the car also didn't have any cats and barely had mufflers.

you are too late, everyone else just like you has already run and took their treehugging garbage elsewhere and ruined wherever you want to go.

The best thing to do is to simply be honest and always be respectful; I've always been polite, had my crap together and answered their questions concisely and quickly.

If the officer feels comfortable and knows you're being honest, you've got a better chance of getting "chewed out" than ending up in court for a ticket.

Also, it depends on what you did to catch their attention. Typically painting the street won't earn you any high fives, but just use your head and you should be fine.

Thank you guys so much for all the feedback!! It really helps us out. We are moving around sep8th and I'm having my wrx shipped there . Hopefully I'll make it there in time to pick up my car. Its a straight drive there from good ole GA TO CA so we're planning our trip now. But im just mostly worried about my car with its mods on it . And getting butt****ed by cali police there.

But if I do go there, my vehicle registration is good for another year, next aug 2021, does that mean I don't have to worry about it till that time comes same for my wofes car, subaru forester 2020 ? And if I get pulled over as long as I have a copy of my orders I'll be ok? And I wouldn't have to do any of that smog testing either right?

Also same question I asked but for my license. Its also a virgina license. But its good for awhile as well.

Also another note . My state of record is Virginia, its what it says on my military home of record. But my veichles are both registered in GA and I have a GA License. I asked GA DMV about the situation, all they said was I have to go off my home of record, VA, and I won't be able to renew with GA because I don't have them as my home of record. But virginas law is something about you needing your veichle title to be in virginas name and some crap like that. But im just totally confused on what the hell to do . And there's no way I wanna pay for 600+ for new registration, new license, and safety, and smog. Or whatever else I need.
