Hopefully, my car will be here by June or July. I'm #3 on my dealer's wait list.

For everyone who was asking "Where did you get this info?" It was officially released to all dealers yesterday morning. (Although some of us had early info)

This is real, not like the other 10 or so "My dealer gave me my price" threads.

D2D (6-disc changer) + D2A (upgrade speakers) = $715
In other words, way too expensive for the performance level you will get. $715 is enough to buy some much much much better speakers and more trick hed unit and amp.

ALPINE SPR-176A = $128 ebay
Alpine SPS-100A = $40 ebay
Alpine MRV-F340 V12 4 Channel Amp = $228 ebay
ALPINE CDA-9811 CD/MP3/WMA XM READY = $260 ebay
Shipping and other necessary hardware will consume the other $60

And that is just an example of much more superior system. You can go with different brands/models and save another couple of hundred dollars and still have a better system. But if dealer warranty means more to you than better sound and features, go for the Subaru stuff.

For those of us that are thinking of leasing (long term rent) our cars we may be forced to include the Subie stereo at time of purchase.

Adding on non OEM equipment to have to remove it down the road prior to turning in the car might prove to be enough justification.

I know in my case I have been going back and forth on this item as most of my vehicles are 3 year leases and typically stay in stock form. Ijust opt for the best head unit/speakers available and wrap it into my monthly payment.

Anyone know how hard/easy it is to install non-OEM headunit & speakers in an Impreza. I haven't done a radio install since my Chevette from high school ('86), and it only had one working speaker.

installing an aftermarket HU and speakers will take you no more than 1 hour. it is that easy especially when the car is already pre-wired.

..uhm.. how prewired is prewired? Is it as simple as plug and play, or would I be having to visit Frys and make my connectors so that the HU and speakers are able to plug in? I know it's not rocket science but I'm terrible with that sorta stuff, you'd almost think I wasn't born with opposable thumbs.

Hi,

Glad to hear I can afford the car I put a deposit on.

I'm supposidly 5th on the list in some small Suby dealer. I don't think I'll get it anytime soon. I ordered Black and Silver as a second option. They never asked me about rim color choice, but I did say to not add any options in the car.

I'm glad it doesn't have a head unit. That nice big hole can fit my nice Touch Screen in there so I can put a Carputer in there. I have a PC in my Honda Prelude now. It rocks!

I have GPS Navigation, DVD's, MP3's, DIVX, WiFi anything a computer can do in my car. That spot will fit the screen nice. No HU for me.

I also wonder how the Suby will integrate into the PC, can I use a ISO cable to monitor the RPM's and brake usage etc...??

Cost for a nice CarPC $1000-$2000. www.mp3car.com

It will have the usual "Subaru" radio connector behind the blanking panel and the 2 pin speaker connectors in the doors.

Note that MY02+ Imprezas have wacky illumination wiring. I've not seen an aftermarket deck that will dim correctly when wired into an MY02+ vehicle.

I believe there will be a "silver" version of the WRX HU available as a DIO/accessory, presumably speakers too.

My choice will probably be the Subaru HU with some nice speakers. I recall Panasonic make a good high end speaker that will fit the Impreza doors.

my guess is that the speakers will be plug and play and that the HU will be simply to connect all the wires from the HU to the car harness. you should also try to pick up a subaru HU harness at your local tweeter to make it easier on yourself and to avoid splicing the factory wires.

Default REAL MSRP

My agreement is for an option to buy the car for SOA's MSRP, and it specifically says that no other fees, costs, or charges (which I would argue includes destination costs) will be imposed.

So do I get the car for:

A. $30995; or
B. $30995+$550

To put it another way, does MSRP typically include the destination charge?

That's what the guy said to me.

from Emunds.com:

Out-the-door price = base price (usually MSRP) + options + Destination Charge + License Fees + Tax - Incentives and/or Rebates

10. Why are destination charges the same for every dealer around the country?

Auto manufacturers will average the cost to ship a car from the factory to the furthest dealership with the cost to ship a car from the factory to the closest dealership. Some manufacturers do this for each model, others average costs across an entire make. Sometimes, shipping costs to Hawaii and Alaska may be higher than the averaged amount for the contiguous 48 states.

11. Can I avoid paying the destination charge by picking up a car at the factory?

Currently, the only North American factories that allow customers to take delivery the minute a car rolls off the assembly line are the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Ky., the Dodge Viper plant in Detroit, and the BMW plant in Spartanburg, S.C. Buyers who opt to travel to pick up their new Corvette, Viper or M Roadster still pay the dealer they bought it from the destination charge.

Hi everyone, I've been lurking around these boards for quite some time and with this news I really had to reply.

I'm very glad to hear that SoA has made this car relatively affordable, more importantly to affordable by me, and not gouge us on the car. Now if only the dealers would do the same. Anybody want a well used '99 Mustang??? Probably not, I'll just drive it around a little longer and wait as I don't have a deposit on the STi and don't wanna be price-gouged. I'm patient tho and can wait.

I reply to banghada:

(which I would argue includes destination costs)

all I can say is: are you kidding? Because hopefully you are and if you are not, and not to be rude, good luck in you buying this car.
