Some of my friends and some of the people I meet can't believe that I own a $20K+ car. Someone said it before...Priorities. You're not making my car payment and neither are my parents. My parents pay for the food I eat and the roof over my head. I think I could be paying for their retirement thougth!!! (no joke, but you're welcome to laugh )

I spent a year living it up before heading off to college. In that 16 months I saved quite a bit of money. I ended up buying a car that was a steal of a deal. That deal bit me in the ass, HARD! In October I got into an accident and that car was totaled. I got all the money I put into it and more. So once I got my check from the insurance company I went out and bought a reliable, fun and safe car with a warranty. Now I've got an '03 WRX. I had almost $13K in my bank account before I bought the car and now I've got a lot less. Just like one of my friends says, "Its only money, you can get more!"

But I feel a little jealous of some of my friends who are given brand new cars. All they had to do was ask their parents and come up with a good excuse as to why they needed one. One of my friends actually said to her parents that she was going to get a summer job, but she had no way of getting there. They went out and bought her a new Jetta. She only has to pay for gas.

Two of the nicest cars ever to roll into my high school parking lots were bought with drug money. Two brothers owned a 330ci and an IS300. Everyone knew where the money came from too. They recived them as gifts after their dad was released from jail.

Sorry for the long rant. No STi for this 20 year old. I'm very happy with my WRX. I'll probably drive it 'till it dies.

Don't be jealous, take pride in the fact that you are paying for your car and the fact that you worked for it and they didn't. For me everything is always so much sweeter when I have earned it as opposed to having it handed to me, I'd say it's prolly true for a lot of people.

I do love USAA service and actually had them for 11 continious years, but yesterday I had to switch becuase I found a place $800/yr cheaper and IMO don't feel customer service is worth $800 extra. My last policy renewal USAA raised my rates because they reclassified the WRX as a "sports" car. Did that happen to anyone else? Just curious...

P.S. I'm 28 but not going to trade in my WRX for the STI. I think I'll keep it until it either breaks or I get the car loan paid off in 3.5 yrs.

Actually, you can definately find cheaper rates (they are usually only rated somwhere in the top-ten on rates) but you can almost never find better service, and it's worth the little extra for that (they're always rated #1 or #2 in service quality nation-wide). And for car insurance, having a good provider is worth its weight in gold when you really need it. People often times overlook this when shopping for insurance.

Hmm... how much did they raise them? They were quoting me about $40 more for the WRX than the RS (410/450 per 6mo)

I believe they raised it around $150 more every six months. Everything was the same from the previous policy, no accidents, no tickets, etc. The only thing that changed was my premium due to the "reclassification."

I'll be 56 in July, but #1 at my dealer for an STi so I believe I have a reasonable chance to take delivery before I die of natural causes.

I'm already tired of the "Fast and Furious" jokes from my friends who think a Cadillac DeVille is a more age-appropriate choice for me.

im not getting one just because i really like the fact that almost no one has my car. and i don't think anyone under the age of 25 is responsible enough to drive a street legal race car (because that's almost what the STi is) and most importantly i don't have the cash ... but if i did, this 20 year old i would get one, drive it once a month and save the thing. who knows what the first model year STi is going to be worth in 50 years with only 10k on the clock.

Prolly not a whole lot, gas prices are going to be so outrageous in 50 years, everyone's going to be driving AFVs.

just went to the dealer at orland park, illinois...guy says price is around $34,ooo. i also went to mitsubishi in orland park, guy says Evo VIII is around the 30's. Both cars seem hard to get, very limited per month, and of course...gotta hate dealer mark ups!

Oh, if i was to get sti or evo for free, i'll drive it even if i dunno how to use the clutch! crrrgghhhghhkrraagggg!
