Because they know now they can take advantage of peoples emotions since they love the STi so much, and squeeze as much money as they want out of em.

LOL, maybe true. I can honestly say that if my dealer reverses its position and tries to go over the agreed MSRP, I'll up and walk out.

Hello! Anyone home!?

You all forget we're in a buyer's market. The economy is poor and auto sales are mediocre at best. For those of you who cannot wait for an STi, You will be paying more than those of us with patience.

Remember the WRX debute? $2000 + over MSRP for the first few months. Bam, September 11th... Prices dropped across the board.

If you can't wait, have a fat wallet. If you can, you're smart.

Agreed. I was an early sept. buyer. I am not complaining, or trying to look opportunistic regarding a national tragedy, but my purchase price would have been substantially less two weeks later.

Skylab what are you smokin'?

Where I live there was NEVER a 2K markup on the WRX when it debuted. MSRP only in the first 3 months, then invoice +dest. there after. And there won't be a markup on the STi! I'm sorry you have such a hard time believing this. I don't know what else to tell you but to FIND A DIFFERENT DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this board affects the IQ of some of it's members.

Thumbs down

I'm not smoking anything. I'm fed up with all the price paranoia about the STi. Too much speculation.

FWIW, its not so much a dealer as it is a regional thing. SoCal seems to be notorious for crazy markups on "hot" cars, and the NW is a little too...

At one point, the instock WRXs at my dealer were priced at 4000 above MSRP... doesnt mean they sold at that, but they likely did sell over MSRP. Since I ordered and waited 2 months, mine was 800 over invoice. Not as good as your invoice + dest. but around here 800 over invoice was better than MSRP or higher...

It depends on the region AND the dealer... Some dealers in regions with markups still don't markup, and some dealers in regions without typical marksup DO markup.

Case in point, a local dealer has a Civic LX sedan (read bread and butter) that had a 1000 over MSRP dealer surcharge... who are they kidding? Then, you go to another local dealer with no markup on a Civic...

Now, if you see 1000 above on a Civic, odds are the WRX would have a markup too...

BTW, knowing what you've said, would you be kind enough to list your dealer online? I'm sure others looking for an STi or even the "regular" WRX would like invoice pricing...
