monovich, can't you wait until they start wrapping STi's around trees to find a used transplant? I don't really want to know how much a new engine runs.

Since dealers will be getting STi's around May, he doesn't see why they wouldn't have parts for it. However, it's probably safe to assume that they don't have complete engines, 6MTs, or drivetrain parts. They are waiting for you to do your standard 7,900 RPM drop and funk up parts in your brand new STi. In other words, most dealers are gonna stockpile their shiznit before selling away parts to WRX owners.

Yeah, I'll buy my stuff off wrecked ones, but just the novelty of being able to buy STi stuff from the dealers... It's almost too much! I'm sure it'll cost more than gold. But it's pretty kewl.

Wait until the factory tech manuals start leaking out. Then there's the Chilton's STi book, or the Haynes STi manual.

Finally the veil of secrecy and mis-information will be lifted!

just like mitsubishi introduced ralliart in the US with the introduction of the evolution, subaru will announce the introduction of STi distribution in the united states tonight when they announce the specs for the new STi. don't know what they will sell, probably mostly bolt on accessories at first, but later on they might have more serious upgrades available.

Hmm, I wonder if the new suspension will bolt up to the "old" (current) body style.

How big a piece of a wrecked STi do I need to qualify? Just the VIN plate? Can someone with a VIN order for their friends?

Then I guess that means all the STi owners will be able to fund their new babies with black-market STi parts.

Now there's an idea! Wait right here while I run it past my fiancee...

Subaru would have to be on crack not to offer STi parts without an STi VIN.

It's an easy way to make a metric poopload of cash, easy.

So if I break the transmission in my WRX can I pay extra and get an STi transmission put in? Seriously though?

It looks to be identical to the current STi Suspension that has been an option for the New Age Impreza since it came to America.

That about sums it up for me! Worst idea ever...sounds like a great way to alienate your early adopters.

Cheers,

Yeah, it looks the same but I'd heard that the new STi's (in other parts of the world) were going to have a different front suspension. Sounds like it might just be internal differences though.

Talking

If SOA wanted money, they would sell you any STi parts at a high profit margin, and let us bunch of suckers fill their pockets by buying parts - then they can offer the STi at a lower MSRP. Ain't I dreaming here....
