Question predicted price of a "real" STi

When I read most of the threads about the price of an STi, everyone seems to be caught up on how 35k is too much. Is this regarding the MSRP (manufacture suggested retail price of the car with basic features)? - because yes I agree thats pretty expensive after you add options and tax.

But I don't see a fully blown out STi (almost every option and package added) for 35k being so bad. I know alot of you guys don't want almost every option and package, but I predict there won't be too many people walking out with a STi with no options (only standard car features)

I guess what I'm trying to ask is: what do you guys think the price for a STi, that has mostly every useful option, will end up being . I know it should all be announced tomorrow, but apparently I can't seem to wait that long . So for the time being, what do you guys predict?

It's psychological - people would rather believe bad news than good when it comes to pricing. And then there are enough people that want to convince themselves not to purchase a STi, for if it was close enough in price to the WRX they just bought, they will wish they had waited for an STi.

35K for a full-spec STi with around 270-280hp and even DCCD-A would be a great price, personally, IMO, etc., because that would be around the price of a specced out 350Z track edition. And the STi would be a better all around car and sports car.

I think it's moot - at this point, if you are not on a waiting list, it'll be fairly hard to get a STi anytime soon after launch.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

If experience has shown us anything with FHI's Imprezas sold in the US, is that there are no factory options....

That would mean a single STi spec, with a choice of a few colors.
(seeing as we prob won't get an automatic)

I sure hope they don't send an automatic with it for the US slushbox loving audience. Keep it real, keep it manual (with the clutch.) Sorry, but I like the heritage, lets let it live on.

Subaru said they are going to priced it just below Evo. Since Evo is $28,987 then STI might be $28,899.

Hey, that was my guesstimate too!

Yes, the MY03 (cross-eye) WRX & STi now comes with airbags in the seats (the rally style ones, not the big-ass ones like we have).

If Subaru plan to price the STi below the Evo price, then it will be very close to the WRX price with a good number of options. Adding the short shift kit, boost gauge, titanium knob, armrest extension, air filtration, dimming mirror,
upgraded audio will cost nearly $27,000 and that's leaving off a few items which would bring it close to $28,000.
If the STi comes with all of the WRX options and still costs under the $29,000 price, to stay below the Evo, then Subaru better lower the price of the WRX considerably or make a lot more STi's.

I'm not convinced that I would pay nearly $30k for a car that doesn't have any luxury features or near-luxury features such as; leather seats, sunroof, telescoping steering adjustment, etc... In fact, the WRX has nothing in it that would make anyone think it has more features than a Neon. Peformance is outstanding and that's the WRX's greatest claim to fame. However, at nearly $30k, I'd have to pass.

In Europe they are 40K, my 02 loaded was 29,000, my guess the STI will be big bucks, would rather buy a used Audi S4

Rumor mill claims that Subaru will keep pricing of the STi under the price of the EVO, which is around $29k. So, that makes the standard WRX a bit overpriced.

The WRX was a bit high to begin with. It seems Mits can build a similar car for less.
