Classic Daisy BB Gun Help
I was rifling through my grandmother's basement before she moved to Florida and found this in there. The exterior of it is in nearly perfect condition with only a few scratches and wear marks. It has the original box, warranty card, scope advertisement, receipt for $5.75, and I even have the original cylinder case of BB's that came with the gun. It's a Daisy Model 32 Number 106 with the plastic stock. I've found them go from anywhere between $90-$150 for good working condition ones. The only problem I have is that it doesn't work. The lever will **** but when I fire it, it will not expel any BBs or air. I've tried oiling it but I dont know the inner workings of these well enough to get it working.
I don't want to sell it. I'd like to get it working again and hopefully pass it on to a future family member someday. Does anyone know anything about the inner workings of these and could possibly help to get it working again?

There is a place in SW florida that repairs old Daisy BB guns....can't remember the name right now, but you might be able to find them on Google.

That looks exactly like my old Daisy PAL from 1985. That invoice looks way older than that though.

Ive found they were made from "Years Produced 1936-1978 minus the war years"
I cant narrow it down exactly when though, I wish the receipt had a date. |

Probably mid-50's, since it has a plastic stock.
It's a Daisy Cub Looks great though, probably just needs some seals. |

A lot older than I thought. I figured $5.75 back in the 30's, 40's, 50's would be like over $100 today and I never thought these cost that much.
Thanks for all the help thus far. I'm still searching for a repair place locally before I go sending it out. Does anyone know if this is a spring powered or air powered rifle? If it's air, it definitely isn't holding any when the lever is pulled and the tirgger fired. |

I'm pretty sure those were spring powered.

There's no fine print on the box, like a copyright date? Last edited by richde; 06-05-2009 at 03:57 PM. |

I think I paid ~$50 for my 717 back in '82 (or thereabouts). Mine still works. It has been stored for years and years, but every few years or so I pull it out and add a drop of oil if needed. I still have my old Powerline 880, too. That was a good gun. |

learning to repair it yourself is definitely one of the best choices you can make.

I'd like to learn to repair it and I've done so with paintball guns but I'm afraid I'll take this apart and either break off an irreplaceable piece or permanentely screw it up beyond repair.
I dont see any fine print on the box. The gun has a serial number (which could hold build date information) as well as the model number. I scoured everything it came with to find a date so far. When I pull the lever back the trigger moves slightly back and it does c0ck itself. It's been a months since I found it and tried using it but if I remember right, when it's fired, the BB just sort of rolled out or went about 1ft then dropped off. |

I bought it off some kid for $20 back in the late 80's. I never had a manual or anything and would pump it 10 times. |

Interesting that you found a rifle while rifiling. Like catching a fish while fishing.

In the fall of that year, Jerry tried taking his gun apart for some reason, and it didn't work when he putit back together. Our friendship crumbled shortly after that. I always thought it was because we started heading down different paths as we got into 9th grade, but maybe it was the 717 bond that held our friendship together. My 717 and the holster I made: |
