Default 20 psi overboost on stock boost cntrlr

I have had some odd behavior lately. A few days ago, I was merging on the highway from a dead stop, and did a full throttle run through the gears to get up to speed. In 1st gear, I saw the peak light on the Defi gauge light up, and the needle was WAY past 15 psi. So I short shifted, and again put it to the floor. Same thing happens, except I notice the gauge is reading 20 psi! I grabbed another shift, and stayed out of the boost the rest of the day.

The next day, I was making normal boost ~14psi. Today, I can't make any more than 10 psi. This is with the stock boost controller. The only thing I've ever done to the motor is install the Defi gauges (which have been working for abou 6 months), and the silencer removal.

Any ideas as to what the problem is? I'm thinking I'll probably bring it in to Subaru to check it out. Thanks.

Eric

just check your lines where you tapped the sensor. Same thing happend to me about a month after install. One of the lines had worked its way a bit off the T. Tied it down...everything has been good since...

If its not that ... Do you notice a pull difference ... cause you would really notice the difference between 10 and 20 psi

Thanks, I'll check.

With 10 psi, I definitely notice it's slower than normal. 20 psi came up so fast, it's hard to say if it was pulling harder, as I got off the gas fast when I saw it peak that high.

Default Normal boost 14psi ?

You said in your post that for a day you were getting 14 psi normal boost...isn't that more boost than from factory ?

10 psi? Start your engine up and look for leaks. I had my pressure sensor detach once from the manifold and I only had 10 psi. I opened the hood and I could hear air being sucked into the manifold by the engine. Under boost air would be leaking out because the pressure would be higher in the manifold than 1 atmosphere.
