Recirculating blow off valve
So I have been planning a build and I have an air to water intercooler set up, so my question is does it matter where the recirculating bypass valve is placed?

somewhere between the turbo and the throttle body
in theory after the intercooler and its inherent pressure drop is better in the real world , wherever it fits is fine splitting hairs here |

Why do you say you don't need one?

everything has it's positives and negatives
yes they can help with compressor surge when chopping the throttle i've never bought into the hype that the bypassed air going back into the turbo inlet helps with spooling back up , especially with a free flowing air filter setup they are almost always open at idle or vacuum , hurting spool up actually google it up for a bit what turbo are you using ? |

Idle and cruise don't generate enough vacuum to open a bypass valve. It's just the same as a blow off valve but with a hose to recirculate the air.
