Default 2018 WRX No power steering :/

So I got into the car today only to find out that my power steering is not working. Light has lit up on the dashboard. Any help with possible cases would be appreciated.

Hey Krismo, when you say light has lit up on dashboard you are referring to the Electronic Power Steering warning light? You should have a diagnostic trouble code stored that can be read by a scan tool. Most of these codes however point to replacing the whole eps assembly.

Since this is electric steering, not hydraulic, battery voltage must be good, terminals should be tight and clean. The control module for the steering is integrated with rack and pinion assembly and has two wire harness with a 6 pin and 2 pin connectors. 2 of the wires in the 6 pin connector are CAN Communication to Engine Control module and VDC Module. The power steering control module needs to reference engine speed signal from ecm to work. It also references vehicle speed and steering angle sensor through vdc.

You probably have an open or short circuit in one of these wire harnesses, maybe a corroded out pin in one the plugs? electric motors or power steering cm could likley be no good.

The interior fuse box by the driver side has fuse #33 which has a 7.5a fuse there that is for the VDC system, check that fuse--one time I removed that fuse by accident and abs, vdc light all came on and the car had no power steering at all. Once I put the fuse back everything went back to normal.

I'd start there...
