That was 30T of ammonium nitrate. This had to be at least double to three times that much.

Holy ****!

That building splits and buckles immediately from the blast. The way it accelerates doesn't seem right to scale. Totally like a Hollywood movie. Something not right.

That was my feeling too. Still enormously powerful, but the vapor cloud gives it that Bikini Atoll feel.

I think I'm going to have to award this one the new top position. Finally unseating the previous champion, the Pepcon plant that made the Ammonium Perchlorate for the shuttle boosters when it exploded.

I mean - they aren't wrong. It's 2,750 ****ing tons of Ammonium nitrate that was stored there for the past 6+ years when it was confiscated from a ship in distress. https://i.imgur.com/LwKOgqg.jpg

https://www.fleetmon.com/maritime-ne...rhosus-beirut/

The Texas fertilizer plant explosion was 30 tons. Oklahoma explosion was 2 tons.

They are saying 73 dead so far. I'm betting at least that many were vaporized

Jeffery Lewis, a nuclear weapons expert, concurred with preliminary and rough calculations that this explosion could have been equivalent to ~240 tons of TNT. Needless to say, he emphasised that this is a very rough calculation.
W54 tactical nuke makes more sense to me because that explosion happened in the same warehouse as ****ing fireworks. Like they stored it all in the same locker for safe keeping. JFC did they think could happen? On this end is the fireworks and on this end death and destruction.

That wasn't a nuke. Options:

They did dumb **** around a bunch of ammonium nitrate, it went boom.

Enemies knew there was a bunch of ammonium nitrate there, and used it to make a nice boom.

Friendlies knew there was a bunch of ammonium nitrate there and wanted a pretext, so they used it to make a nice boom, but left signs of the enemy there. 'look, israel did it!'

There was a weapons storage facility or factory underneath, someone tripped, it went boom.

There was a weapons storage facility there, an enemy did not want it there, made it go boom.

There was a weapons storage facility there, friendlies wanted a pretext, made it go boom, left others dna at the site, etc.

Unless someone within the leadership wanted your list to happen, dumb seems worse than a baby warhead.

Ok, so what about the few thousand tons of ammonium nitrate stored next door?

Oh, poison. This is why those pesky regulations exist.

Not sure, it could be that. Im not an expert on explosions. All im saying is there is no way fireworks alone could do that.

Here’s a video of a fireworks warehouse burn that i saw personally.

I pass by that road almost daily for the past 13 years and every year before new year a fireworks warehouse or factory burns on that road. And it always looks exactly like that.
