Throttle Body Gasket and IACV Question
Hi,
2012 sport limited hatchback, no mods When I let go of the brake on a flat surface, the car slowly inches forward and the engine pulses slightly. In another car I had, this was because of a dirty throttle body. Therefore, I would like to clean it. I just have a couple questions as I am getting mixed signals from my research. 1. If you suggest trying something else first, let me know. I have replaced both O2 sensors a couple weeks ago. 2. Does this car have an idle air control valve? I cannot seem to find a part for it that fits my model. The reason I ask is because it's been suggested to clean this along with the throttle body. 3. Is this the correct gasket for the throttle body? Obviously it is stated as such, but the reason I ask is because I've seen ones that supposedly fit my car that look completely different. https://www.autozone.com/gaskets/tbi...733/788684_0_0 4. Are there any other gaskets to be aware of for this cleaning? Thank you! |

There is a pcv valve, it’s $20 from dealers and easy to change its right on top of the motor.
Subaru calls it the idle air controller or something like that. Bad idle , mpg, or stutters could be from a bad one. I would change that before messing with the throttle body |

There is no such thing as idle air control valve on this car, that's what throttle by wire is for. The ECU can open and close the throttle plate as needed.

Thank you for your responses and for teaching me something new. I will check out the pcv valve and give an update.
Thanks! |

So unfortunately replacing the PCV valve did not resolve the issue. Any suggestions before I clean the throttle body? Thank you

I'm going to check the MAF and report back.

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I have a 2014 Impreza hatchback with the CVT and on cold start up you can feel a bit of a miss. And once I first start moving the idle starts dropping and the car bucks a bit whether I'm moving forward or backing up without touching the throttle. The dealer scanned the car and couldn't find a code. It's also had the plugs and PCV replaced as part of regular maintenance and it didn't make a difference. I also cleaned the MAF and no difference after that either. Once the car is warmed up it's fine. It's had the issue for about 3 years now.
