Default 2012 Impreza cabin rattles

I have a 2012 impreza and it has started to develop a strange rattle by the door jam on the driver door. Every once in a while it will happen on the passenger door as well. Anyone else experiencing this, or is it just the car sort of settling?

I have a 2012 WRX and the rattles are worse than my Altima Se-R that I traded in with almost 90k on it.

There is a white plastic baffle inside the door. It's meant to give the door a solid feeling when pushing on it when opening from the inside.

There should be a tread on this, but..... Slowly remove the airbag clip on the plastic going from your door jam to the dash. (Slow so you dont tweek up the clip) Take the screw out, that is under the clip. Then slowly pull the plastic up and out. It should come out easy.. Then use double sided cushion tape and cover the clips on the plastic piece that fits into the dash... the more double sided tape you use the less vibration you will hear. Hope that helps.....

JAYBAL - care to post a few pictures to help illustrate this? I heard a rattle in this same area today for the first time. Car is only 10 days old! Hate rattles...must eradicate.

Thanks

Call the dealer. I had that rattle in my 2011 fixed under warranty. There is a service bulletin to repair the door rattle on the 2011's and they will probably honor it on the 2012..

I've got rattles all over too, can you elaborate more on what the service bulletin entails for the 2011's?

My car is just over a week old, under 500 miles, and rattles EVERYWHERE. It's depressing, because I enjoy driving the car so much. Headrests, steering column, and dash rattles pop up regularly, and there are several others that seem to come and go. Was my car just 'built on a Friday' as they say? I'm hoping the dealer helps, because it seems rather ridiculous for a brand new car.

My RSX-S rattled like a bitch. In the winter - it rattled like two bitches.

For almost $40K I was pretty sure the 2012 STI would have less rattles. I've currently got 2K miles on it and have been taken completely by surprise on 3 separate occasions by totally unpredictable random loud rattle sounds from somewhere in, under, around and behind the dash. All short lived.

If I owned a cadillac, I might complain.

In some other thread on here somebody posted something funny about Subaru's in general being little more than parts traveling in close formation. That has stuck with me and every time I hear a new sound I just remember that line, laugh a little bit inside and then crank up the awful subaru subwoofer or get on the gas. Then I cant hear the rattle anymore

Sorry - i know that wasn't helpful :P

I have a slight plastic-ie rattle from the steering column. I can live with it for now. If it drives me mad, which it surely will, I'll have them address it at the next oil change. I may try to figure it out myself though, the steering column is pretty visible/accessible and by applying pressure in the right area I can silence it.

The cowling for the steering column is just mounted on metal tabs near the steering wheel. Hold both sides and give it a good push, you don't have to Man-handle it to make it move.

I've taken it to the dealer multiple
Times to address the rattles but somehow no one seems to ever be able to hear them. Time
To try a different dealer because I can't handle it.

don't know if you realize but an impreza is an entry level car. It's going to rattle.

If you don't like rattles spend $$$, $$$ fixes everything.
