To be fair, the EVO when it comes will likely have quite a bit more hp than the 227 the WRX has.
To me this means either the WRX needs to get a bump to JDM WRX NB power levels at minimum, or to make everyone really happy, the STI must come. Dan |

That's the idea, Zahnster
If Subaru gets a bit nervous about all the interest in the EVO, which now may also run in the WC series, then Gary may have a chance of getting the sponsorship package he needs from Subaru.
It wont be cheap, to make a WRX compete with the GT cars for a whole season. It's going to take some serious $$$$. |

The EVO may or may not ever arrive here. (Its not here RIGHT THIS INSTANT so you can not say it will ever arrive). If does you can't say WHAT it will be, and you can't say what the WRX will be.
The RSX isn't competition, its overpriced crap. The Type-S would be competiton if it was $20K not $24K. Right now I think the highest ammount of cross shopping is happening between the Mustang and the WRX. The Mustang has the speed, the WRX has the interior, and both handle about the same stock. The F-body is dead, so its rapidly becoming a non-issue. I think the Focus SVT might eat a few sales, as will the Spec Rice, oops I mean Spec V. |

my opinion is that the Lord of the "RINGS" (AUDI, for those don't follow). will be the biggest competition for Subaru...as well as the BMW's......Racing wise that is...

I agree, the new Audi's will give Subaru, sales nightmares primarily due to the upscale market and better materials/build quality for the vehicles interior/exterior.

I disagree with Audi being a real competitor. The prices are just way too high for most people, at least for any model with even decent performance. Even though I appear to quite in the minority, the new Z is very attractive if it comes out with as much HP as claimed. Great looks, fancy-pants aluminum suspension bits, and the Z legacy. It's definitely a conundrum for me, even though you'll take the keys of my RS out of my cold, dead hands.
On the other hand, a WRX with maybe another 40 or so HP would definitely make me stay in the fold (with the RS keys still clutched in my hands as they lower my coffin... ). |
