Code P0420 and P0137 after Invidia Catted J pipe install on 2021 wrx
So , last month I installed my Invidia catted j pipe and with it the Cobb stage 2+ big sf intake on my 2021 WRX 6-MT . I also have a remark mid pipe and axle back muffler delete installed . I am waiting for parts to arrive before getting my e-tune ( haven't decided who to go with yet ) , and so for now I have to live with the garage Cobb green-speed v-400 update . The car runs great , but I got a code P0420 and so I erased it and reset the ecu and it came back again a few hundred miles later . After erasing and reseting the ecu after the second time I got P0420 , I then installed a Big Baddies "420" fix ( basically an antifowler ) and drove maybe 15 miles and now have a P0137 . Can anyone help me out with this problem and maybe provide some insight as to why A catted Invidia ( brand new NOT used ) J-pipe is throwing codes ? Any help would be greatly appreciated . This is driving me nuts , because I intentionally bought the catted J-pipe to avoid this exact scenario.

I think a proper tune will fix the issue.
Where did you get the stage 2+ map, I don't see it listed on Cobbs website anymore. Also I know their tune is optimized for their parts so maybe it's just a difference in flow between cobb/invidia jpipes Just to confirm, you do have the cobb big sf intake installed as well, correct? Not a different aftermarket intake? Sent from my SM-G973U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by dpetro1; 04-30-2022 at 08:37 AM. |

P0420 Means the catalytic converter isn't working well enough to stay within the acceptable range for the tune. Most aftermarket j pipes have garbage catalytic converters in them. I don't think a tune is going to fix it unless the tuner is able to change the parameters on what is acceptable. But I was under the impression that the Cobb software would no longer allow them to do that. Cobb switched to a different catalytic converter for exactly this reason. But talk to your tuner to see what options they can provide.

P0137
I keep getting the 0137 and my mechanic said a data log on the sensor looked fine, my tuner said the tune is fine it’s a bad sensor. I have no idea what to do.

I have the grimmspeed catted j-pipe (v1), and I've had p0420 and p0137 with that. It originally started throwing p0420 when I initially installed it on my car, this was due to the catalytic converter being placed aft of the downstream o2 sensor, which does not offset the sin wave, which tells the ecu that the catalytic converter isn't working. I used an adapter bung on the rear o2 sensor before I took my car to get it pro tuned. I didn't have any issues with it throwing codes during the tune, and a while after. It started throwing p0137 codes (not super often but once in a while) which is a bit annoying, but my tuner zeroed the comps for the sensor so it's not affecting anything, it's more or less a bit of annoyance. It appears now with the current state of cobb that the only fix for this is to switch to a different tuning software. My tuner does ecutek so I'm going to be switching over to an ecutek tune soon.

If you have all the earlier maps, I would try installing the stock intake and run the normal Cobb stage 2 OTS map. Intakes on OTS cause all sorts of issues.
Might be an interesting test. |
