Default Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 vs. BFGoodrich G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S PLUS

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 vs. BFGoodrich G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S PLUS

Which tire should I go with?

car: 612whp (dynojet) 2005 Subaru Impreza wrx sti

current wheel and tire setup etc.: bbs golds, 245-40-17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ / on fortune 500's with set to relatively soft (6 clicks from full oft all around) with hyperco 7kf 6kr long travel

use: DD, only car, some spirited driving, maybe a few roll runs here and there.

Preferences:

I have had the BFGoodrich g-force comp-2 A/S (not the new pluses). I recall the Michelin’s were quieter and more comfortable, and grip /response in all conditions seemed better BUT, the PLUS's have a new compound and according to tire rack survey's they compare very similarly. I am aware that Michelin makes BFGoodrich as a cheaper brand.

Remarks:

I'm torn here. I want the best all season performance, but I also want a comfortable and quiet. Has to be good in the rain, and not suck in the snow. Tire has to have some life. My last Bf's lasted 10k, and my Michelins lasted 20k. (there may have been extenuiating circumstances as to why the BFGoodrich’s were replaced twice as early, or not, I don’t recall).
I am down to 3-4/23nds in the front and 6-7/32ns in the rear. The outer tread on the front is going bald, I think. So I should buy these ASAP. I also don't want to mess up my DIFF with a 4/32nd's difference in tread depth front to rear.

***NOTE: I could not find a direct comparison between the NEW versions of these 2 NEW tires online.

The tires you are comparing are both relatively new. If you know you preferred the Pilot A/S 3+ I'd probably recommend getting the 4. FWIW, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 is what comes on the new C8 corvette, which is right in your power range.

well that really puts things into perspective. All season's really have come a long way. You don't need two sets of rims and tires anymore when you live in a area that gets real seasons. Unless you live where it gets lots of snow. That being said I just came from colorado and my Michelin Pilot sport A/s 3+ (4's replaced these) didn't rally in the snow, but they held their own decently, and I had some fun sliding. Also, I heard in the rain that a lot of summers can't even handle that very well. I drive can drive in the rain just as fast as dry (when I'm not taking it to the limit), and it was fine.

I love my Michelin A/S 4s. When the weather got colder I switched from the PS4S to these and honestly these are more than enough tire for street driving. Fantastic on cold wet roads with great hydroplane resistance. They are not quiet though, and I did not notice much of a difference in road noise switching between the two.

I recently got the Michelin All Season 4's installed on my car and they are so much better than the Dunlops - granted anything is better than summer tires in winter. I normally dont have to drive on snow or ice (work gets us a hotel if the weather is going to be that bad) but Ive had to drive more than I have wanted to for reasons. Some roads around here havent been plowed or treated in any way and I can tell the Michelin's handle it pretty well. I still dont drive at excessive speeds when I am driving on untreated roads. I'm going to have to start driving more regardless of what the roads are like and will be picking up proper snow/winter tires next year.

I did have the BFG g-force comp-2 A/S tires on my Fiesta ST a few years ago and really liked them in both winter and when it got warm. I did have summer tires on a spare set of wheels for that car.

Neither the Michelin or BFG were quiet tires. But neither were the Dunlops. Not that tire noise bothers me, but I felt like mentioning.

I havent really pushed the car at all since its still 'breaking in' and with new tires they need about 200 miles to break in. And I wont be pushing the car hard anyways with ice/snow on the roads.

I compared the best features of the BFGoodrich G-force Comp-2 A/S vs. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ and found that BFGoodrich’s G-force Comp-2 A/S can match the wet and dry performance of a premium UHP tire, but with a lower price tag. Michelin’s Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is quieter, longer-lasting, and more reliable in light snow conditions.

Following this comparison of the Yokohama YK-CTX and Michelin Defender. The Yokohama YK-CTX is a great choice if you want an all-season tire that has a more reliable warranty and is less expensive. If you have the extra bucks, the Michelin Defender's LTX M/S tire is significantly superior. While the Yokohama YK-CTX is a Discount Tire exclusive, it is also readily accessible through online tire retailers including Tire Rack, Amazon, and Discount Tire.
