the torque is great, my redline is still 7,000 -- due to other parts in my engine that arent ready for that.

Default Please check the Dyno FAQ

Hi,

just thought I would post a link to this ESPECIALLY answers 20-23. Its getting long in the tooth a bit to explain to people many times about DD numbers... but in any case, check out:

http://www.rocketrally.com/managed/i...age&pageid=111

especially items #20-#23... and see the www.ktrperformance.com site for other pulls on a similar dyno (all other things NOT being equal).

Maybe we should just turn on "Nasioc" correction :-)

I don't know why these tuners keep advertising that they're the ONLY ones in western Canada. There's a couple in Edmonton, Calgary, and even one in Saskatoon. $500 for a tune? Subracing in Edmonton will protune for $300. That includes sending you home with a custom base map on your AP.

Bring a car tuned by ANY of those shops and doa dyno comparison (or real world drive comparison) to a car tuned by Rocket Rally and you'll see why the money is better spent. We get a LOT of cars from all over Western Canada, many are re-tunes from other Western Canadian tuners.

Do all of those "tuners" have an AWD dyno, and the experienced tuning/racing of Rocket Rally?

It is good that there are AWD dynos now in AB ! We even called them up and spoke with them and wanted some more baseline #s etc. When the Rocket Rally website was done, we were the only ones in western canada... to do the awd dyno, to do ecutek tunes, to bring in APS stuff, to protune, etc. etc. for a long time after those pages were made as well. I admit the website needs updating but its not as if any "new" material is coming out stating those facts... it will get updated as soon as we get off the dyno...

A one hour dyno and tuning session is still way under $300 at RR.

It is my opinion (go see the Calgary dyno day comments for corralary info from all the people that wanted 2 hr tunes) that a proper tune should take 2hrs per car - and much more if its heavily modded or oddly modded. A 2hr dyno session, 2 hrs of tuning time, wideband AFR installation/removal and monitoring, external boost and ignition monitoring and printed logs and data - is all included in the $499 tune bundle - which is discounted further if you get tuned when you buy an AP or Ecutek. And of course, this also includes "sending you home with a custom base map on your AP" - I am not sure how you can possibly deliver a protune without doing putting the base map on the AP !

There is also road tuning (i.e. non-dyno) available. Road tuning properly takes more time than dyno tuning (because you have to drive and watch out for other cars, etc - otherwise why buy the dyno), but in essence, the hourly rates are all there. So to summarize:

a 3 hour road tune will cost < $300... a 1hr dyno and tuning < $300, and what we recommend (and what even customers of the other aforementioned place are now requesting), is a 2hr dyno and custom tune. Like anything, more time == better results (not just #s, but things like finicky driveability, etc. etc.). Its easy to get fat #s.

Default Evolution of my wagon...

This is a overview of the steps I took in modding my wagon. I would like to thank the the expertise and skill of the gang at Rocket Rally.

-Custom tune
-Invidia DP
-HKS UP
-Blitz Nur-spec cat-back
-one step colder plugs

-Custom tune
-APS DR-525 front mount
-APS cold air intake

-Custom tune
-STi pinks
-Walbro fuel pump
-TD-05 EVO III turbo

This is just a brief list of the work performed on my car which yield the results but I assure you from my witness that there were many little tweaks need to be done. That is where the experience and knowledge of Pat and his crew at Rocket Rally makes the difference. I am very happy with my car.

I have the same catback as you do -- how does the invidia DP mate to the catback?

My helix DP is going south and i need another soon. Rocket Rally says my DP mated poorly to my Blitz exhaust causing leak.

Happy Days, the invidia DP mates nice and true but replace the gasket with a good quality one.

Very nice numbers. These bugeyed WRX's are really putting a run for their money on the dyno!

Momo, I'll see if I can pull your plot off and send you via e-mail instead of having a blurry scan.

The above plot shows three different plots:
1. PINK = NO REFLASH (this is with headers, up-pipe and turbo-back).
2. OTHER THREE - after flash, some are cooler runs, some warmer, just to show the variation of what a car will pull at various temperatures etc.
