05 STi-How LOng wiLL iT LaST
Like the title says, i have an 05 STi....i plan on lets say minor mods, full exhaust, coilover, rims, nothing big...... think this STi has 100,000 miles in her, 200,000 miles, how long before it would need a complete bottom end rebuild.....i've heard of 2.5 rs's going 250,000.......but this turbo motor obviously is alot more stressful to the car itself.........so what do you all think!

It depends on a lot, as long as you keep up with a maintanence, you should make it pass 150,000 - 200,000

Depends on how well you maintain it and how hard you drive it.

I wouldn't be so sure about that turbo. My Loyale turbo has 225,000 miles on the original.

And the only turbo's that I have replaced at work were due to kids running BOV's, plugging the pre-cat and grenading itself into the turbo.

With minor mods such as the ones you listed you will (this depends on how you drive and how you maintain it)
Do wheel bearings between 30-50k Axles at 80-90k Turbo will go somewhere between 40-70k, if its still pumping at 70k, replace it anyway. Its not working anywhere near as well at that point anyway. Clutch, no one knows yet. The STI drivetrain is REALLY overbuilt. Its designed from the factory to handle 1000chp. The clutch should last you maybe 60k? Bottom end should be good for 200k+ Tranny should last about the same. Thats if you drive it like a normal car. If you DRIVE it, plan on a motor around 100k, it will still run fine at 100k, but will be way down on power. Same with tranny life. And this isnt 100k highway miles, if its almost all highway, the numbers go WAY up. If its ALL rural stop and go, they go down. |

Break in plays a role in how long it will last as well (although this could be argued). If you are a bit anal about how and when you do your maintenance, it should give you a few more miles. I change EVERY fluid at 30K miles or once a year (although I've only got 4K miles right now.) If you take good care of your car, it will take good care of you.

My Mustang Cobra lasted me 17 years. But then I needed four doors and AWD and I traded it in on my Legacy.

i had a turbo legacy with 200K on it. I didn't do anything to it not even the turbo! it got to the point where the floors were so rusted that i could see the road through the holes in the carpet!
