I can tell you that how I do it is how I do it and is also as recommended by the lab. This isn't exactly an aircraft engine costing millions. |

BTW, was mostly being sarcastic regarding your sampling intervals. FWIW Mr. Jet Mechanic, the majority of UOA's done on vehicles seem to be sampled during an oil change. From my understanding this is helpful as the "best" sample is taken mid-drain, eliminating any sediment oil on the bottom of the oil pan. UOA's are typically used to determine how well the oil has held up over the specified interval. This is usually based on a "virgin Oil Analysis", or by data sheets obtained from the oil manufacturer. While the first drain may not give any trends, it could notify you if there is abnormally high levels of certain minerals/metals in your oil. Subsequent UOA's will help establish a trend with your vehicle, and better highlight discrepancies should the metals or mineral makeup change significantly. |

No worries Ben , I've got to do an oil change this week and will most likely be sending a sample in as well. The oil has got about 6500 miles on it so far and I've had about a quart to almost 2 quarts of make up in that time, I really need to get off my ass and install that catch can I have lol

What is that facebook page where people trade car parts? Trying to trade some 19" wheels for 18" wheels.

For the autocrossers out there who have raced with the PCA group, you should know who Jim Mcneff is. Even if you don't, please keep him in your prayers. His wife Patti (long time continental employee) passed away from cancer this morning.

I'm horrible with names. If I saw a face, or knew what he drove I'd make the connection. Regardless, my condolences. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.

I'm bad with names too, but I believe he has a white 912/914, and is the guy with the curly-ish black/grey hair and a beard.
