My pistols are bare, as far as red dots go. It was awkward when I held one w/ it. Some people like it. Not I.

Friend has a Vortex one on his 22/45 - love shooting that thing. Have never used one on a 9/40/45 etc though.

I've got a Glock 19 with one. I'm pretty happy with it but it does take some getting used to each time I shoot it.

i need to stop talking about the p320 BUT roommate at the p320c rx witch has the romeo 1 on it. It was the first time i ever shot a rmr on pistol. It did take some getting used to but i liked it a lot. there were 3 of us shooting it, 2 of us liked the red dot more, 1 liked irons. So i guess you will need to find a friend and try it out a couple times.

Using a red dot on a pistol requires really strong fundamentals.

Running a red dot on a handgun requires nearly a complete retraining on how to shoot a handgun. You can't just pick it up and go. As Orbital said, it requires really strong fundamentals. I have an RMR on one of my M&Ps (3.25moa dot) that I really like and spend every night dry fire practice, but haven't added it to my carry guns yet. I still need a lot more training with it. I have a 2 day RDS class scheduled with Scott "Jedi" Jedlinski, of Modern Samurai Project, towards the end of this month.

Just trying to wrap my head around all this- what's the biggest challenge with the red dot?

In other news- picked up the Sig today. Goddamn I'm stoked to take it for a spin. Owner tried to talk me into a Grayguns trigger setup. 2.2lbs! So tempting but my primary is a G19 that I can't modify, so I don't want to spoil myself.

Next question- what's my best bang for the buck as far as 9mm ammo? I can see myself needing a good amount.

I buy the majority of my ammo from SGAmmo.com.

Only stuff I try to avoid is Winchester White Box stuff. They've had some QC issues recently. Everything else usually goes bang.

Right now SGAmmo has 3 or 4 different brass cased FMJs for $.17 a round, and several others for $.18 or $.19 a round.

Gunbot.net if I'm looking for a bulk purchase. Otherwise I'll just grab a box or two here or there at walmart, the outdoor store near work. I use to shop at the LGS, but they're 99% into SIG, and don't hardly sell anything else.

My preferred brands: CCI Blazer, CCI/Speer Lawman, Sellier & Bellot. Also haven’t had issues with Fiocchi or Magtech, but I’ve heard otherwise and I think Toby might have even had an issue?

Couple new scores....

traded for a 9mm TacSport

got a Mod 70 in 32acp for $250 (had a spare long barrel threaded so swapped that in)

a local deputy sheriff I know had a spare personal 1301 he wanted to part with and remembered I wanted one. I had picked up a 1301 Tac already so wasn't too interested but I had been looking for a longer VR barrel for it when he offered me his 1301 Comp for $600. (cheaper than adding the barrel to my Tac). So....I snagged it and added an Aridus kit and Magpul stuff.

Thinking about changing out the mounting on my Omega. Either going with the Plan B and Cherry Bomb by Q or the Dead Air QD mounting solution. Any suggestions or experiences with either?

Talking

Did some sighting in of the NV scope this weekend. Just rolled the kitchen table out to the patio.

This is a screen capture from my phone via streaming from the scope. No shots were taken at this point. However I realized quickly that my rubber dummy doesn't show very well with the bright orange paint. Should have stuck to the white I normally use

Also someone talk me out of building a 458socom sbr

Cheapest I have ever found 458 was $27 for 20 on sale at Freedom. That was enough for me to decide against building one.

Yes.....I can get some decent rounds in the $1.30-$1.50 range. It would just be my home defense rifle/ walking the property rifle. I have way too many hogs, bobcats, brave coyotes.....etc. hell the other night I was walking from the kitchen to my bedroom via the patio and I got charged by a hog. I grab my closest gun which was a 1911. Didn't feel that confident in it but it was there. I got one round off, not sure if I hit him but he ran off.

Also this past Friday afternoon when I got home from work, there was a tweeker trying to break into my garage. I chased him off with the only rifle I had with me, which is the Grendel posted above. The only reason I had it with me was because I took it to work to show my brother. So the socom would be a truck gun as well. The guy ended up stealing stuff from my RV (hand tools that I leave in one of the storage bins. He also attempted to steel the battery off of the RV. Police were 15min out due to that fact I live in the middle of nowhere. I have a f'ed up hip and knee due to a recent jet ski accident so I couldn't chase very far.......about 20-30 yards. After I stopped running I didn't see where he went as he went around the other side of the house. So I was at the mercy of the police. So I sat in the driveway on the phone with 911 until the sheriff department showed up with rifle in hand.

You obviously need to set up a perimeter of claymores and landmines.

Lol.

I'm having about 20 cameras installed around the property. I already have an 80ft tower for internet so I can get enough repeaters on there to cover most of the acreage. At least the parts where someone could easily get over the fence.
