Samsung 850 Pro 256gb SSD
Slickdeal today, $130 @amazon http://slickdeals.net/f/7653678-256g...e-shipping?v=1 Can't justify the upgrade myself right now, but its probably the best SSD around, and $30 less than historic low. http://camelcamelcamel.com/Samsung-2...uct/B00LMXBOP4 edit: back up to $150 Last edited by IceWilly; 02-10-2015 at 02:47 PM. |

SSDs arent too far off from becoming commonplace in most systems, they are just getting soo affordable now. Like the Crucial MX100 512gb for $200ish

PC master race v2.0
I have a this piece of crap Toshiba laptop, C55D-B5242 and am suddenly having issues connecting to wireless networks. This worked fine until a few days ago and now will not connect. The only message it says is "can not connect". Trouble shooting does nothing.
Connected through an ethernet cable it works fine, but not wirelessly. Win8 is fully up to date Atheros Wirless Lan Driver (956x is the model I think) is up to date from the manufactuer's website I have disabled and reenabled the hardware I have "uninstalled" the network adapter and reinstalled I have tried it plugged in (to check power setting) Routers have been reset No settings on the PC have changed Passwords for the routers are correct Phones can connect to both networks with no problem (I have two wireless networks) One strange part though is that I have two wireless networks, my main on and a VPN one. It will not connect to the main one at all, which is use to, but it will connect to the VPN network. Any ideas? Last edited by Ethan; 02-11-2015 at 05:40 PM. |

So I have come across an odd issue on my M18xR2 Alienware and I wanted to see what you guys think. So I woke up really early one morning to hear my computer just going crazy, basically the fans are stuck on full blast. The computer had just installed a windows update and I did not think much of it. I tried updating the bios to the latest one and got no where.
I then opened it up and cleaned the fans out which helped for a few hours but again I awoke to it at 100% fan speed. The laptop is running phenomenal otherwise. When I start it up it is good for 2 or 3 minutes and once my Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) kicks on and starts to work than the fans go full blast. I have a 1TB raid 0 array along with a Samsung 840 pro and all the drives are reading properly in RST. I ran a hardware diagnostic and it said my hard drive in bay 1 was messed up but RST says its fine and the computer is showing no signs of issue. I appreciate all your input because this is really annoying. Thank you! |

alright folks, looks like its time for a new keyboard since my G15 is starting to act up and some of the keys decided to stop working. i decided to go with a mechanical keyboard but i am looking for some advice on which ones. i read great reviewed on the Corsair K70 so that is the one i am leaning toward but i figured i would ask your recommendations while i am looking for good deals.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Depends on what your personal preference is. Depends on if you will be using the keyboard surrounded by humans who may strangle you for the click-clack noise after 2 hours. The switches you go with are the main factor. No one can tell you what switches you will like best though. I hate blues for gaming, but many people love them. I hate reds because they are too soft (although I like them better than blues), many people love them or hate them for a different reason. My next keyboard will have MX Black switches. That's probably not a widely held preference, but that is what I have decided is best for my needs. All I can tell you for sure is stay away from Razer's poverty in house knock off switches. A k70 should be fine, just figure out what switches you want before buying or buy it from a place that it's easy to return it to. I'm on a Cooler Master Storm Quckfire Rapid with reds right now. I don't hate it enough to buy a board with blacks just yet. |

1) the keyboard will be used for gaming and typing. i don't FPS too much anymore so mostly MOBA and your average action game. i don't think i need the blue switches. 2) my preference is a good strudy reliable keyboard that will do a good job. this G15 lasted me years so it did its job. 3) i would like to stay around $100 or below but i don't mind spending a bit more for quality since it will last me a long time. 4) as for switches, i think right now i am leaning toward the browns which from what i understand are kinda the in between that are decent at both typing and gaming. i did try the blues before and they were way too aggressive and loud so its between red and brown. |

I've been using a K60 for a little over a year, I like it, I liked red switches the most, definitely find somewhere to try out the switches before you commit, or order all of them and return the ones you don't like .

i actually went to Best Buy 2 days ago and played with whatever they had. they had the K65 which was decent. i also played with the Logitech 910 which i HATED and the Razer blackwidow which was also pretty good. i would have loved to try the Logitech G710 that has the brown switches but they didn't have it on display (it is on sale for $99 so i might buy it and return if i don't like it).

I have the Black Widow and like it, though I haven't really been "twitch" gaming with it, mostly simulators.

I need a new computer again soon (our XPS is over four years old). My company allows employee purchase at 0% interest up to $1,500 which is nice. Then again I don't want to spend $1,500 on a computer that'll just get outdated quickly...
Nice setup Jaren!!! I still run my old Dell 19" monitor lol. It's a joke & need to get a bigger monitor (27" WQHD me thinking). Stupid laggers on CS server!!! |
