Quick question for you guys. I need to edit a 15 second video clip for this stupid thing for work to show what were doing to get ready to go back into the field and work (chances are we'll get shut down again lol).

Basically what I have is a 15 second clip of me karting (pov) and I want to add another kart (preferably like a mario kart character) or cartoon car that i'm chasing down that either spins off and crashes or some mario kart like turtle shell gets thrown at it and flies off track.

I don't need professional grade, just something that I can whip together in 15 second video clip. I tried using microsoft video editor and there is a car that I can choose from, however, I am unable to have it change positions to fit the turns on the track and it will only save in one fixed location.

I also have a feeling i'll be using this more often for work.

So, which software can I buy thats easy to use, not advanced that will do what I want?

I used DaVinci Resolve to edit a few GoPro videos. It's not easy though and took some investment into learning how to do basic editing. But at least it's free.

Otherwise, I would say Adobe Premier. They have a 7-day free trial if all you need is 1 video, but kind of a short time span to learn it. $20/mo if you have a student email. All my buddies used Premier to edit their YouTube channel vids.

I played through Firewatch it was pretty fun and worth the $5 on steam sale.

Next up I’ll replay Witcher 3 w/expansions in 4K which should be a good test of the old pc.

I guess with the hotter temps in the Mid-Atlantic my CPU temps have creeped up. I'm in the mid-upper 70C's while gaming..

Edit: CPU is i7 4790k

I might have an opportunity to make in investment in a PC I can stream/play video games on and edit videos as well. Don't know if it will pan out, but in case it does I need to have a list ready. I'm trying to go as high end as possible so the main guts will last as long as possible. My current PC is over 5 years old and running Windows 7.

Would appreciate it if anyone can help me figure the cooling out. I don't have the capacity to bend cooling tubes. I thought perhaps it would be better to back down to the I9-9900 that goes up to 5GB, but I couldn't find one with a LGA 1200 socket. (I'm really attached to the ASUS ROG Maximus XII Hero Z490 for the USB and M2 slots). Someone said the NZXT Kraken wasn't strong enough to handle the heat an I9-10900 puts out.

Any suggestions about how I can alter this and still have it be somewhat powerful 5 years from now? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I'd recommend going AMD and using a similar AIO cooler. Get a 3950.

Well I am going to put together a PC so my kid can have mine, the old is a 2016 era gaming PC.

After reading a bunch of recent recommendations I think it will go
Fractal Meshify C
X570 TUF wifi
R9 3900X
EVGA Black 2070S
Vengence 2x16 3600 ram
Samsung 970 M.2 1 TB
RM850 (2019) PS
Noctua D15

Seems good enough for a gaming build that will last a few years. Any advice or criticisms that would fit into the budget of where this is at? PCpartpicker has it for ~1800$ but that will depend on what/where I can find these parts.

Parts List

Yeah, may be worth it to buy a 1660 super or 1070 for the time being, then get a 3000 series card this fall.

So my newly minted PC died yesterday. I'm pretty sure PSU #3 died. I can't bring myself to test it yet. The trickle power is the only thing working. The PSU doesn't fire up when you press the power button. I suppose it could be the switch on the chassis, but I doubt it. The motherboard may be ****ed and thus not starting the PSU but more than likely, the ****ing PSU has died. *sigh*

During a shortage hucksters come out of the woodwork. Companies like Amazon need to do a MUCH better job of letting people know what is 3rd party vs regular Amazon stuff. The dildo who sent me a used board still has excellent ratings. Want to know why? He sells masks too. 200 people ****ed over on electronics purchases are drowned out by the thousands of people who bought masks from him. Its pretty ingenious actually.

Sorry I should have mentioned that.

It's an i7 4790k (stock clock) with a Hyper 212 Black CPU cooler (I know it's basic but did just as well as my h100i GTX back in the day)

So, I spent a few minutes busting out the PSU tester. Slapped it down on the dining room table, removed the 24 pin, plugged it in to the PSU tester, press the button and the whole system lights up. So, either the switch is dead on the chassis or there's something wrong with the motherboard. Fortunately, the chassis came with an extra power switch. After work I'll go hook up the extra switch to the pins on the motherboard. If it doesn't fire up, it's the motherboard. If it does, I'll replace the switch in the chassis.

Glad that didn't happen to me. I've been spending a week trying to figure out why my microphone stopped working. :/

Would have been much worse off.

fingers crossed it's the easy option.

It sucks that I had to buy the PSU tester in the first place but holy **** is it useful for diagnostic purposes.

FYI: Mine is an unfortunate edge case. The first one I built for my wife was together and loading windows in about an hour. Most of the hour was spent squinting at tiny pins trying to get switches wired up properly.

Standalone mic or part of a headset?

Headset with a mic splitter before it plugs in. I'm worried it's the splitter.

In truth, I may have made it worse by trying to self diagnose and fix it. Going back to basics.

One day...
