doublej,
I don't think I can justify that purchase when I only drive the car 300 miles a month. 25 gallons, would be overkill This is what I am looking for: http://www.torcoracefuels.com/catalo...roducts_id=28& |

Not meaning to thread jack, but does anyone here work in the insurance industry and have any insight how storing this amount of fuel in our garages might affect a fire claim? Also, might be considered dangerous and illegal by zoning regulations; firefighters usually aren't expecting that kind of danger in a residence. <shrug> Maybe something to think about/find out for sure.
Aaron, somewhere around here I have a bookmark for a local petroleum company that will deceiver barrels. I'll try to find it for you. |

Unless your garage is climate controlled, the summer heat may degrade your drum-stored fuel before you have a chance to use it up.
I contacted Trick about getting a barrel of 101 last fall and besides their warning about storing temp, it was also more expensive per gallon by the drum than at the pump at 44th & Chandler. Didn't make sense to the Trick rep, either, but oh well. I'm not too far from there so I just let them store my fuel. |

Again, I am not looking for race gas by the gallon. I am looking for Torco Race Fuel Concentrate, you add a few oz to your tank and it increases the octane of the tank.
Its like the crap they sell at pepboys, but it works Last edited by AaronB; 04-11-2006 at 01:46 PM. |

have you ever had that stuff really tested? i doubt that any "additive" can increase a large volume of fuels octane level by any great degree |

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ighlight=torco Several tuners have mentioned it works and I beleive from other searches (trying to find a local vendor) ebeck and cronic also vouch for it here in the SWIC. |

wow - 5 pages of shootin from the hip no one has sent some mixed fuel out for analysis - so all the octane results are opinions or a best guess. now - i am not doubting the additive, dyno graphs prove it has good anti-knock properties, which is why your buying to begin with. i am just really curious as to what the actual scientific results are. i dont know why - i run pure c16, my car never sees the gas pump, per say. |

Sometime last year. Sport Compact magazine did an article on octane boosters and a Tolulene "homebrew". They did scientific testing, showing how much octane rise from each product, etc...
Not sure what month it was, I have the mag at home. |

It worked for me. My car pings on 91. Add a half of bottle of Torco to a tank of 91 (16 oz) and no ping. Downside is that it contains MMT. It will clog your cats, and foul your 02 sensor eventually. Even with the above dose after one tank of gas my tailpipe was MMT orange. That was enough to turn me off to it. I just run a mix of 100 octane and 91 to run ping-less (total pain if I go on a trip though). So if anyone wants to buy a couple of bottles, let me know. I will sell for what I paid ~ $26 iirc.

Pyrex, where did you get the Torco at, if you don't mind me asking? If you are going to be in Phoenix sometime soon let me know and I will buy the Torco from you, I just won't be able to get to Flag any time soon.

yeah my new car manual says mmt sucks and it just ruins yer plugs, o2, and cats. best bet is to just find some higher octane unleaded gas.

Surge has some new Amsoil octane booster, that is supposed to be very good as well now, if that helps any.

yeah the amsoil octane boost is really good. i buy drums of sunoco 109, but i've used the amsoil in a pinch with zero knock detection. It's also tested very well, in the independent tests i've read. it's $8 or $9 at Surge.
