Does anyone know if the BOV kits made for the MY02+ WRXs (ie, Greddy Type-S BOV) will work with the STi?

I just installed my worxtuning BOV today. In the full atmosphere setting It can only be heard when releasing the throttle under full boost. I think I may have to take it apart and adjust the spring...

My WorxTuning valve was the same way. Because of the coating on the piston, there is a break-in. The piston will fit to the bore and move more freely after a little bit of use and go to atmosphere more easily. Havent tried stepping down the spring pressure, but haven't felt like it was necessary.

First of all, we would like to thank everyone for the excelent feedback and support. We have e-mailed with Nick, and we will have vendor status beginning in October. Just wanted to post that while others use a brass piston, we use a coated aluminum piston. While our early prototypes used a brass piston which are less expensive to produce, we switched to aluminum that is coated using a special teflon impregnation process. The aluminum piston is roughly 1/3 of the weight of a brass piston of the same design. This allows for much faster valve actuation and responce. This coating is sacrificial meaning that it will wear to perfectly fit the valve body. The break in process shouldn't take more than a week, and will vent to atmosphere more freely at this time. If upon break-in it does not vent to atmosphere as quickly as you may like, then you can easily adjust the spring back one position to allow more atmosphere flow. It is very simple and doesn't require the addition or subtraction of shims. We use a 5 position spring perch that will suit applications from stock WRX, STi, or highly modded running high boost. If anyone has any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks again, James WorxTuning |

All BOV's are now being shipped with a lower spring setting as this seems to be the preference.
Thanks |

We have not made any plans to conduct a group buy on this part yet. So far we have had a pretty overwelming responce to these valves with the offering of free shipping. I will say that if anyone orders it and feels that it is not worth every penny of the asking price, then we will take it back. We stand behind our product 100%.

WorxTuning:
Any progress in getting a sound file of your BOV in action ? It took over a month to get an answer to my multiple e-mails- which promised a WAV file would be sent last week sometime but hasn't arrived at my end yet. Being a business owner myself I understand things can get busy, but I hope this isn't an indication of the customer service I can expect! -Sporty. |

Video clips with audio are now online for the BOV. Go to our site and click on gallery to see them. If you listen closely you can even hear the problematic STi detonation
Sporty- Now I know you are excited to hear our awsome BOV, but there is no need to exagerate. I explained to you in our e-mail corespondence that our web guru was on vacation and we would inform you when it the clips were online. Guess what...You've got mail! Thanks, James |

Worx,
So no CEL's with your BOV on the STi? I could really care less about what sound it makes, I'm more interested into how well it functions as a dual stage BOV. It could sound like a wazoo whistle for all I care, just as long as it serves its purpose effectively. BTW, if I do end up getting a BOV, it will probably yours. -STiLL Last edited by STiLL WILL; 09-11-2003 at 01:35 PM. |

STiLL-
There are no check engine lights from our valve. We have run it for over 20,000 miles on our WRX wagon, over 6,000 on our WRX sedan and we now have almost 8,000 miles on our STi and it has been on from day 1 with no CEL's. Not to mention all of the valves we have sold. We haven't ever heard of such an incident from a customer either. Because of its dual stage design and both the spring and atmosphere vent adjustment, it can be tuned to work the way the end user wants it to work. Even on our STi in the clips, it is set with the lowest spring setting and vent ring wide open, which allows it to go to atmosphere pretty easily. There are no problems or issues of drivability( and of course no CEL). It has been thoroughly tested and there were at least 10 different renditions of the valve before it made it to market. None of them ever had any issues, but we were looking for perfection. Rest assured. |

do your different levels of adjustment produce different sounds? have you shown any performance gains or losses. ?

Qbushido-
With the adjustments, you can up the spring pressure which will make the atmosphere vent a shorter burst and raise the pressures required to go to atmosphere. And with the atmosphere vent adjustment you can go from full open like in the clip to full closed which runs the valve only plumb back. The in between settings mainly regulate the air volume released to atmosphere. The sound levels are decreased with less atmosphere but if you have an intake or resonater removed you will have more sound from the plumb back portion. STiLL- Thanks, we are on our way. Expect to see big things from WorxTuning in the near future. |
