2.5 Sti Review: UK Car Magazine
Read a quick review of the 2.5 Sti in March issue of UK Car at the newsstand this morning. Not sure if already posted, but from what I can recall it says 2.5 STi is seriously fast, but not easy to drive. Quotes the specs as 300bhp and 299lbs ft torque. Some understeer is evident. Car is dead below 3000rpm then kicks in with serious power. ACTUAL times were not recorded, but it quotes mfr 0-62mph at 4.6 seconds. Brembos are amazing. Also says something to effect that hood scoop shakes noticeably at highway speed and rear wing makes some type of intrusive noise even at low speeds. MY SUMMARY...for what it is worth.

Ok, I'll be the first sceptic...
How did a UK car magazine get the first 2.5L STi to test? This review also sound a lot like a review of the UK 2.0L STi... "Dead below 3000rpm" The US is supposed to be the only country getting the 2.5L this year. -BrianK |

I get CAR (just got the new issue on Wednesday) and I believe the article within is about the 2.0 with PPP and the new body style. Only skimmed the article, but the general idea is that it blisteringly fast, a handful on the gravel (but flatters the driver in the end), and a fun car. They also have an article on the Evo 8 as well.

Latest issue of EVO also had the 2.0 STi with PPP.

I wouldn't be that surprised if you see that 2.5 STi is more lagy and less responsive compared to the 2.0 version with the twin scrolls. Just by having a max torque at 4000 RPMs makes me suspicious enough.

I can vouch for the hood scoop making noise. I first noticed it after break-in (personal pref, not necessary) at 125mph. From there to top speed, it hums. I don't notice any noise from the rear spoiler, but it wobbles because of the air currents. At speeds over ~120 you can see it steady out and bow from the downforce. I don't plan on getting the PPP, it's powerful enough stock! Keep both hands on the wheel...

Doesn't the 2.5L STi get the twin scroll too?

Back to back testing of the 2.5t vs. the 2.0t STi models, the quote from a test driver was "the 2.5t makes the 2.0 motor feel slow and a bit laggy".
And I've driven the twin-scroll 2.0 JDM STi, and it's anything but slow and laggy. Cheers, Paul Hansen |

Paul, can you offer anymore info on that 2.0-2.5 comparo test drive? Will the details be published?
That is a pretty amazing claim regarding the strength and flexibility of the 2.5L. Not doubting you in the least, just excited to learn more. |

FYI the NA 2.5L motor makes 166 lb/ft @ 4000 RPM and 165 HP @ 5600 RPM See any similarity here? Have you ever driver an RS? Better yet, have you ever driven a turbo RS? - Steve |

So who will be the first to incoporate a twin scroll exhaust manifold and turbo into the 2.5L STi?
