Anyone else interested in a rear seat pass-through?
Has anyone done any research into a rear seat pass through for the STi? I use mine (in my WRX) all the time in the winter for my skis and would hate to have to stick a roof rack on a beautiful new STi. . .
I know the Canadian models get the pass through. Can you simply retro-fit a Canadian rear seat into the car or is there something more substantial in the difference between Canadian vs. U.S. models? The only thing I could find when searching was this: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...=rear+and+seat

Has anyone with an STi taken their back seat out and looked to see if structurally it is different than the WRX, i.e. crossbar or something in the way?

I checked the Canada Subaru Site. You are right the STi in Canada does have the pass through rear seat. I wonder if some one in Canada could check for the price of the rear seat back with pass through. I might have to drive over the boarder to get one.

I pulled the rear seat of both the WRX and STi... They are the same structurally. Both have 2 vetical tubular bars that split the area into thirds.
The only difference seemed to be the bolts attaching the bottom of the rear seatback. 4 on the WRX and only 2 or 3 on the STi. The hook for the center pass-through latch is missing on the STi... didn't look carefully enough to see if this is a separate part bolted onto the WRX. I can check this weekend. Russ |

Guyver: I was thinking the exact same thing, especially since Canada isn't so far.
Russ: I meant to ask you about the rear seat when you were here last but forgot. The other guy at the last driving school with the blue STi was Canadian and had a pass through. Without pulling it apart it maybe looked like it could be a direct swap for the Canadian rear seat. As far as the latch, I don't know how important that is since the rear armrest in my WRX seems to fit pretty snug into the rest of the seat. Let me know what you find this weekend. Jon |
