Temperature Gauge
My temperature gauge never seems to move past half way. Even on extremly hot track days it never moves.
I've got a Ganzflow intake (and I remove the bumper vent and hood vents on track days) and K&N air filter. Could this air intake be keeping my engine that cool to not even get my engine any hotter than normal driving? Or is there something wrong with my gauge? Any thoughts? Stacey

Mine is the same way...goes to the middle and never moves...I don't think it moves in-line withthe actual temp. It just moves to the top if you over heat. If ya want to know your real temp..buy an Auto-meter or something. My .02

what he (above) said
i have an Autometer water temp. gauge, and the stock temp. gauge doesn't move at all (stays at about halfway) when the Autometer one moves anywhere from 150-210F the stock temp. gauge is not reliable at all... when it start moving pass halfway you are in trouble already |

Same issue in my '95 Legacy
The gauge stays in the middle when the car is on.
Even when only the ignition is on, it goes to the middle. Then back down when the car is off. Goes straight to the middle on a cold start, and stays there when warm and never moves (until I turn off the engine). I unplugged the coolant temp sensor (CTS) and turned on the ignition (not the engine) and the gauge went to the middle again. This also kicked on the cooling fans. Then I unplugged the temp sender unit (right next to the CTS) and the gauge still went to the middle again when I turned on the ignition. What is wrong here? Any ideas? |

Solved
Solved: the gauge was bad.
I replaced the single wire sending unit, this was not the issue for me. No need to buy a whole cluster, just pull the temp gauge off your cluster, then pull another from your local wreckers. Cost me $10 |
