Mystery hose and hesitation
Hi guys, I have been having hesitation at WOT for months and so taking it easy. I confirmed the ECU is pulling timing from registering knock events. This is happening even under normal driving.
I was inspecting the engine tonight (for the 100th time) and found a small broken hose under the intake manifold on the right side looking at the bay from the front. Does anyone know where this hose is supposed to connect and if it could be causing my problem? It runs down behind the AC compressor and disappears into the top of the engine. It liiks like a 1/8 ID hose. Also looks like it has been broken for a long time... 04 STi 123k miles. I just replaced the purge valve hoses because the blue connector was broken. Helped the car run better but didnt fix my hesitation. Not sure how to post pictures anymore but I can post the hose and ECU learning and logs which looks weird also if I can figure it out. Lol. Thanks for any help! ***edit: pics now posted below.***

Thank you cdska! I added the pics to the first post.
Also, I have been going through parts diagrams for two hours and cannot for the life of me find that hose. I plan to pull the AC and trace it in the morning if nobody can identify it. |

So, quick update. Turns out the hose didnt go anywhere! I think it is a piece that fell down there from the original owner installing the boost gauge, that is right above it and uses the same hose. It has been in there over 15yrs! Lol
Anyway, still trying to understand my hesitation issue. If anyone has thoughts on my logs or ECU learning I would really appreciate it. Maybe I should start a new thread... On the bright side, I figured out the cause of a highish pitched hum I have been hearing. Need to replace the AC belt pulley. |
