For your HP goals, 300awhp you don't need forged pistons. They will just add noise and not last as long as OEM.
If my wagon was put on a Dyna Jet it would show 300awhp. The heart breaker Mustang show different (lower) HP #'s. Again, New Ej257 short block, I did have mild porting but don't open the ports at the gaskets, you need gas velocity for the turbo. I'm still on stock injectors that came in the car when it was built May 28 2004. Dyno showed 280awhp/300ftlbs with a vf52 at 21psi on stock fueling. That was back in Aug 2011. The ej257 has 145,000 trouble free miles. When my trusted mechanic replaced the timing belt he commented on how quiet the engine was. No piston or bearing noise. It is easy, don't over think this.

and this car was stage 2 when I owned before.. 326/365 on a DynoPac, back in the day.. Stage 3 was at 403/437 on a DynoJet so Numbers don't mean a whole lot to me... but the quality of everything working together and producing... thats more important to me.. meaning a PROPER TUNE adjusted for the mods .. Right now. its running a Stage 1 Cobb OTS map.. so its not a dyno tune but when I get all my stage 2 stuff on. then it will be a dyno tune. . When this motor lets go, then when I rebuild it, I want it to last.. Car's not going anywhere. Bill |
