FP Red vs FP Blue
So I've been looking at turbos as it's the last thing I need before I make the 400whp jump on my car as I just finished building my motor almost 3k miles ago. I've come across the Red recommended by IAG performance due to its new design and quicker spool time. However, I've also heard that the Blue has quick spool time too. What would you guys recommend? Also I do plan on buying a Ball Bearing unit in whichever one I get.

Interested in responses, in a few weeks I’m having FP Blue installed, the last step on my build...currently making ~300WHP on 93 and ~345 on E69 tune
Builder expects 400 on 93 and could probably hit 500 on E85 but ID1,300 injectors may max out before 500. Doesn’t matter for now though because I’m on stock 5MT soooo, ya, I don’t want 500whp till 6 speed swap! Will post dyno graph week of the 19th once I get it back. I’ve heard nothing but good things about fp blue, it’s just not super popular? Yet? |

Blue, 57lbs
Green, 61lbs Red, 64lbs For a reference point my friend made 420whp on his green on pump 92 so both the green and red WILL get you over 400whp on pump. Not as sure the blue will without pushing things more than I would personally like. Of the options listed I would go with the Blue, from what I have seen it works VERY well. Then again though there are a LOT of other options in that size range I would consider. Quote:
The blue is just falling into a tough size category that competes with some hard hitters IMO. I like the blue but what I have seen from that new G25-660 and the stock location GTX3071 I would have a hard time not getting one of those two options. |

About the 500whp numbers on FP blue, they were ballpark estimates and I don't have goals going into it: They will tune the car w/whatever parts are on it, and give it a good/safe tune. Final numbers? I don't care as long as it is a safe tune haha. My tuner is VERY good, he wont chase numbers/try to squeeze too much out of it. My bad if I made it appear I WILL get X power out of the blue. Only time will tell, soon enough haha... Also, I don't know what I want to limit the power/torque at right now because stock 5MT. It seems I can almost pick what my final numbers will be in advance because of not WANTING to squeeze everything out of the turbo/car. I'm already decided on the blue, if that is what my builder and tuner keep recommending (they have had a lot of success w/them) then I yield to their expertise. Also, don't want to drive myself crazy with more research! |

Depends on all your mods. Size injectors what fuel you want to be running. If your running e you'll probably get around 400 with the blue with a nice spool. If you do a search for fp blue on here I have my Dyno chart posted. That on e

i made 520whp 495 ftlbs (mustang dyno) on E70 with an FP Red @ 28psi. An FP Blue will not make 500whp.
Maybe 460Whp (dynojet) maxed out please notice the comparisons on dynos i mentioned |

How much boost needed for 394/402? Dynojet or mustang dyno? Did you max out the maf sensor?

FP Blue here, in a ‘13 WRX with IAG Stage 2 TUFF and upgraded fuel lines, pump, etc.
322 WHP / 305 TQ. This is limited because of my WRX 5MT that I haven’t upgraded yet (with a Competition Clutch Stage 3). It spools hella fast and is super fun to drive, but until I get a better tranny I won’t know how much power I’ll eventually get out of it. I think the Blue is great for a daily driver, if that’s what you’re looking for. |

FP Blue
2011 STI piston only motor
FP Blue PTP turbo blanket EBC FPR AEM 340 pump Flex fuel kit CAI ETS TMIC 1050cc’s TGV deletes ELH 38mm EWG Catless downpipe Exhaust is fully wrapped with DEI wraps 93: 14psi 304/277 19psi 347/332 E71: 16psi 339/330 21psi 401/388 Low torque and conservative maps per my request. We also ran out of injector by 401whp. It could have made more with bigger injectors. Spool is like stock. I can’t tell the difference. I really like the fact that my low boost map on 93 is like a stage 2 but at 14psi instead of 18-19psi. Great turbo for a DD and track. The Red is more for big power and has a higher boost threshold. It’s in a different league IMO. I’d like more power but that’s just the slippery slope of “I want more”. I'll stick with the blue and not have to deal with the delay in spool time.
