Default Need Brake Help

Hello All,

I have a 2016 STi and I need some help. I feel that there is too much brake pedal travel before the brakes engage. The travel is about 1.5" to 2.0" and it has been like that since new. I now have 65K miles and changed the rotors, pads and fluid this past weekend. I bleed the brakes using a power bleed system. The pads (Hawk HPS 5.0) were also bedded in correctly. I do get correct bite and pedal pressure when the pads contact the rotors and I do get correct stopping distance.

My question is this, how can I get the free pedal travel down to 1.0" to 1.5"?

TIA for the help.

Sounds like maybe the brake pedal rod that pushes on the MC piston is not adjusted correctly. IIRC- there is some adjustment there before the rod engages the MC. I tried looking it up, but could not find a diagram.

Part of the issue is due to rubber brake hoses, normal on all cars as purchased from the Dealer new. You may be experiencing normal behavior.

Several ways to reduce brake pedal travel.

sounds like either air in the system or adjustment issue...rare to happen from factory but still can happen...
