Ej257 experts, help identifying bolts!
Had my engine rebuilt, have most of the long block together minus the intake manifold. I have 2 bolts that don't seem to have a home, wondering if any of the experts out there could shed some light on where these might go.
They look like coolant bolts, but I have the correct bolts on the crossover pipe, thermostat, and water pump.

Those are very generic bolt in our cars, could be used for multiple things. could be holding down wire harness, could be holding down cross piping, etc...

Pulled the timing cover and checked the oil pump, all 7 are there.
Checked thermostat and cross referenced with parts picture online, the correct ones are in. Same story for the water pump and crossover pipe, the correct bolts are in. What’s unique about these is the gap near the head of the bolt before the threads start. These couldn’t be oil pickup tube could they? |

New OEM pickup tube, if I remember correctly the pickup bolts had a little 6 on them.

I don't think they are oil pickup bolts, they are too dirty. Those bolts along with the oil baffle tray bolts are all usually pretty clean but tan-ish colored from the oil.
Kinda looks like a stock TGV bolt, or a valve cover bolt. |

I had wondered if they were valve cover but the rest of my valve cover bolts have that fat part to fill out the portion that presses against the seal.
They are definitely not TGV bolts, I have those in and they are way longer. |

is the 8 on the bolt head a hardware grade rating? It seems like each set of bolts has a different number.

They look like the pair of M8s that hold the A/C pulley on, but as someone has already mentioned they are pretty common and could be for anything - P/S pump (uses 3- 2 shorter and 1 longer), timing belt idlers (might've used another bolt instead which is why these ones look clean), etc
