Reman 4/2 pots, possible brembos cheap!?!?
Nothing is shocking anymore, except what some "touched" subaru owners mirthfully pay for used 4/2 pots and brembos. Debate of the benefits aside, my question is about re-manufactured 4/2s and yes! re-manufactured brembos available online (o'reillys) for notably less than what people pay for them used.
2 questions: First: I've heard the re-manufactured ones fail. Does anyone have experience or know why? Calipers aren't especially complicated, so not sure where they could mess them up. Is it really just the fancy paint? Second: There is often a core charge. Anybody ever try giving a stock caliper for a 4/2 pot or brembo for the core fee?

I'm putting powerstop reman front brembos (thru jegs - no core), and 1 nugeon and 1 cardone reman rear fhi 2 pots (from rockauto - with core charges) on my car. All the pins and pad retainers are included. Way cheaper than the billion mile, beat to hell caliper sets you find on ebay and classifieds. We'll see how reliable they are.
Just remember to account for the new brembo bolts (if you go with brembos), rotors, pads, and kartboy brackets too (and plan on modifying your dustshields.) Edit: the Powerstop Brembos were backordered, but I only had to wait about a month to get them. Last edited by T-37; 01-22-2020 at 05:18 PM. |

The thumbnail isn't accurate, but this is it. I confirmed the p/n on the powerstop website before ordering. They're the brembos. They come in red with a powerstop silkscreen that can be cleaned off with a dab of paint thinner and elbow grease. Last edited by T-37; 01-24-2020 at 11:11 AM. |

The one review on Amazon said the bleeder stripped the first time they cracked it open. Have you bled them yet?

I haven't yet, I've been waiting on rotors for the rears and time to mess with it.

Not sure this fits here, I know they're quite a bit more expensive than the FHI's but still far less than official or even ebay channels for the rears.
https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-...-rear/915963_0 https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-...105_5913_35794 obviously they're side dependent but have not researched this any further. Just throwing this in the ring. |

Really curious about these!

Have you been able to take the car out recently and put them through their paces? |

I went out and bedded the pads a couple weeks ago. Our autox season is on standby, so I haven't messed with it since. No issues with the powerstops. I ended up with reman centric fhi 2 pots on the rear and the color match is perfect, if you're into that sort of thing.

Yeah looks like everything is on hold for the time being. Thanks for the reply. I imagine that the calipers will perform just fine.

Yes, front brembo fitment is the same as 02-07, it's the rears that are different. I have 08-14 front knuckles on my car also, so I can confirm.
