Attention Tuners: If you are tuning for money and you use this ROM on a customers car (even if they "provide it"), I would request that you send $20 per customer via Paypal with the DONATE button above or below. I have put a lot of time and work into this ROM and I believe this is a fair amount, especially considering other rom patches with less functionality are generally $35+. Obviously this is all on the honor system, but please consider that I am a broke ass college student and my time is worth just as much as yours when you are tuning. I feel that I have made enough modifications to this ROM to distinguish it from anything else available and I believe that has value.

This ROM will continue to be free for personal use but feel free to make any donations if you appreciate the ROM. Thank you.

This is a ROM developed to enhance the capability of the stock ECU on 16bit Subarus. It uses a Speed Density control scheme which means fueling is calculated primarily from the MAP sensor instead of the MAF sensor. As it is based off the Group-N ROM it will only work on 02-03 USDM WRX ECUs and 02-04 JDM ECUs. This also means that group-n tunes will transfer directly over to this ROM. You must have TGV deletes to run this ROM, this will be fixed in future versions. The goal of this project is to provide stock ECU users with some of the benefits of aftermarket ECUs but retain the ease of use and low cost of Open Source.

For existing group-n ROM users, simply open this ROM and your group-n tune with the definitions provided and transfer your tables and settings over. Make sure to open your group-n tune with the CarBerry definitions. You may notice that some of your original tune's tables have slightly different values than before(mainly the SD offset, multiplier, and load comp table). This is because the CarBerry ROM uses different conversion equations for those tables. Just transfer over the tables and your tune will remain the same, the data is just displayed differently and I will explain why later in this post. After you transfer over your old tune you can configure the CarBerry ROM features to your preference.

For those transferring over from standard MAF tunes please read up on configuring a group-n tune for your car and apply those principles to the CarBerry ROM. I will update this thread with those procedures in the near future.

Disclaimer: I assume no responsibility for any damages inflicted by running this ROM, use at your own risk.

The current version is 3.0, this is the third public release. If you have any issues/comments/requests please post up and I will see what I can do. The zip file includes an EcuFlash definition file, place this in the EcuFlash rommetadata/Subaru/Impreza STi folder to allow you to flash it to your car.

Version Log
3.0
-NLTS
-Removed the MAX load table
-Included Decel Fuel Cut Table
-Included the ability to use positive or negative values in the MAP sensor offset
-Removed the user levels
-Coded in a "cut x from y" method for launch control and NLTS (to get a quicker more accurate RPM hold)
-DTCs can effect CEL status alongside KnockCEL
-Sparkcut Launch Control
-Ability to disable Defrost logic (if anybody ever had issues with using it as an input)
-Fuel pump duty hysteresis (so fuel pump duty doesn't go crazy when you are right on the edge of the switch point)
v2.6
-Re-Organized Defs
-Added Map Switching
-Added Aggressive Launch Control(Static Fuel/Timing)
-Multiple Choice Input Controls
-Added Auto Transmission Logic Disable (To accommodate using the TID pin as an input)
v1.5
- Initial Release

-I want to give a big thanks to ED(fastblueufo) for all his input and testing on this ROM. He has helped enormously in both bringing up issues that needed to be addressed with the group-n ROM and testing out the CarBerry ROM to make sure everything works correctly.

-I also want to give a big thanks to elevenpoint7five, JSarv, Merchgod and any others involved for their hard work with the original group-n ROM

Hey. My name is Roman, I'm from Russia. I have a Subaru Legacy car with an EJ206 twin turbo engine and an 4EAT automatic transmission.
Recently, I redid the twin turbo in single turbo, the VF35 turbine, Standard ROM EJ206 does not have editing capabilities, and other WRX or STI ROMs do not work correctly, and there are also many engine errors.
On the advice of friends, changed my ROM to carberry 4.2.
Work has improved. I set all the switches to the correct operation of the automatic gearbox, filed the ground on the E1 pin so that the ECU can know that it is in the automatic gearbox mode.
But there is a problem: When the engine starts, the power light on the dashboard blinks and the TCM diagnostic displays error 5-11 (Communication line). Could you help with the solution of this problem?

P.s. 4EAT - TV1

Sorry for bad english

Thank.

I'm running the Carberry ROM in a v8 ECU with the EJ207 and 03 WRX 4EAT. The automatic transmission drives and shifts correctly, however it's flashing the AT Temp Oil light. This is only with the v8 ECU and not the USDM (doesn't operate avcs).

Anyone know how to resolve the flashing AT Temp Oil light with the JDM v8 ECU?

cover it with some tape.. I would say you will have to find the pin out going to the ecu and figure out which wire is being grounded out. I had a issue switching my wagon over and my abs light was flashing when ever we plugged in the jdm ecu.. real pain in the butt took the shop a week to figure out where it was grounding out. but yeah I also found out that there are little differences in all the years and when they were made..... so my 04 wagon wiring is different than a 03 or 02 go figure

Anyone have any tips for tuning VE tables? I used a VE map builder from Romraider to set up a base map, and have since done a few revisions using a VE tuning spreadsheet and this is what my VE table looks like currently.
https://i.imgur.com/M1Fi7lt.png
I've only been able to tune the closed loop region under 14.7 MAP so far as I'm a hesitant to go into the open loop region. Any time I make any boost the car hesitates and goes lean. I'm not sure what kind of values to expect in the open loop region as I'm new to speed density, but is it normal to have values above 100? Would anyone be willing to share what their VE table looks like? I need a better estimate for my OL values before I start tuning that area I think. I'm using a lot of values from my E85 tune, with an EJ207, VF30, ID1050x's.

You can have VE over 100. Think of it more as a multiplier though. Its prerty much the final variable for fueling. Things that can increase VE over reality is things like telling the injector scaler you have 1050's if they only flow 900. If you fuel pump isnt keeping up. If your iat is in the wrong spot etc...just gotta log FFB and a wideband and work at it.

Has anyone ever messed around with idle speed target when using rotational idle? I've tried 900 rpm and a .74 V kick and it idles much slower and sounds cammed, but it shakes a lot more and hesitates occasionally. It gets much more smooth at around 1100 rpm.

Anyone ever try out different rpm/throttle settings? What TPS voltage and rpm works best for you guys?

If you right click on the patched file does it show that the file is blocked by Windows and is there the unlock button?? Obviously the problem lies in the patched ROM since you say all the other ROM's work fine.

If I right click the file I patched that says speed density base it doesn't show anything about being locked. I'm about to delete everything and start from scratch cause this is aggravating that rom will load the image but ecuflash crashes everytime. I've spent hours online looking at any and every page I can find and following everything but yet it just does crazy stuff.

Default Wiring

I have 2003 JDM STi using carberry 4.2, running great.

Do anyone have or know the wiring changes required to switch maps with a switch I can hide in the glove box?

I assume your not using for flex fuel?

Carberry 3.9 might work better for using two separate maps. But whatever, easiest switch I can think of is the "lights" input on ECU. You can cut that input at ECU and put a switch to ground that pin. Then on the map switching table, point it towards that input

Your ignition timing map needs to get adjusted. If you change your idle target. Your ignition map is jumping from say 16° to say 19° your ignition timing needs a square loop. So 16° in those 4 or so tables. You're welcome.. good luck.
