Default 2008 wrx narrow body sti swap!!??

So threw my main bearing this morning on the way to work. Wooooo awesome. So pretty much spent all day searching this forum among others with no straight answer. Most would be on topic then ended up on something totally unrelated. Anyways it’s going to cost a arm and leg for a rebuild. Figured I’d swap a new motor in. Now my question is can I swap a sti ej257 in? Just the motor that’s it long block no trans. Would it be plug n play or do I need to some splicing, new ecli or can I flash it with my accessport. Thanks much

Sti is going to be dual variable valve timing which your ecu can’t control. You would need to switch your heads to d25 single avcs versions but then you have to deal with the wrong compression ratio on the ej257. No easy (&cheap) answers here unfortunately...

if the pins on the harness are all correct but I dont think they are. BTW why do you want the dual avcs anyways?

your wrx engine is almost the same as an sti engine anyway so just stick with a single AVCS versions (06-14 wrx/07 sti). you can use older 04-06 sti engines but you will need to block air pump CEL's (unless you already have it deleted in your car).
