It looks like someone put on one of those body kits you'd see in the back of Sport Compact Car.

I get that in pictures but it’s a better looking car, to me, in person. I’m not in the market for a two seat “sports car” over 50k but if I were I’d be waiting on a chance for a C8 instead.

That's the best part about it.

I saw a few at the Chicago Auto Show. It looked silly and overblown compared to the dark green 86 with bronze wheels parked nearby.

Hakone. I didn't really care for the color combo until I saw one in person. Gorgeous!

before I bought my 2020 STI (June/July 2019) I was trying to buy/order a 2020 supra but the dealer in my town was only selling the car auction style and the current price is 25k above MSRP.

I told the sales guy, F that; if im dropping 75k for a car its not a toyota. I told him I'll be spending my money else where. The following week I went in and order the 2020 STI.

fast forward to a month ago, the same sales guy emails me back and says, they have some supra in stock and if I was still interested in the car...LOL

initial info on the 2021 seems really good...good thing I waited; i'm also liking the 2020 STI a lot over my previous car 2013 WRX

I would like to shake the hand of the man that spent $25k over sticker for the Supra and congratulate him on being a first class moron.

I could be wrong but I can see the new Supra actually knocking down the price of the mkiv Supra. The MKIV its the that sexy of a car compared to a RX7 or a R34 (yes I know, not available stateside). The car could handle a **** load of power but it had a hard time putting it down and it handled like garbage. For $40-$45k, I can buy a GR Supra which absolutely would crush a stock and mildly
Modified mkiv last. Throw a downpipe, tune, water meth and you’re out running 98% of all Supra in the 1/4 mile and road coarse.

Only benefit I see with a mkiv is that targa top and 6 speed and that it’s actually a Toyota instead of a hard top z4 with a tune.

*course

And everything you just said is logical, but people don't spend $50k on a 25 year old Japanese car because of the performance per dollar or any other metrics. They're buying with their heart, not their head.

Reminds me of the new STi S291 or whatever it’s called. Who’s paying that markup for an Impreza?

I dont know who it was but I'm from the bay area and rich people are a dime a dozen here...people are more than willing to pay top dollar to be "1st" or even top 100.

another crazy example, before the C7 ZR1 was release my friend was on the wait list to get one...some rich bastard paid my friend 40k to jump up spots to take my friends spot. Of course my friend said yes and gave his spot to the guy. my friend ended up not buying the vette and got a M3 haha

They retail for something like $3500 IIRC. It's full titanium in case that isn't clear... light as can be.

EDIT: Also, what an amazingly intricate system when you could, and should, just have a fart cannon straight out the back like god intended.

Seems like it, but it actually has cutouts/ electronic actuators that close two of the pipes.

There's a yellow one in front of a dealer where I always seem to get stuck at a red light. I look and try to find the best looking angle. Alas, there isn't one. It's hideous from any angle I look at it.

Popular opinion: Yellow is generally an ugly color anyways.

There's not going to be a good angle. You have to look through the yellow to find the goodness. But in this case it's a tough go since what's beyond the yellow has so little goodness .

I’ve seen the silver and gray and didn’t hate either in person. The design is a bit busy with fake scoops and vents and whatnot but, in person, I didn’t hate the way it looked.
