Best timing belt kits?
Hi all,
I have a 2006 Saab 92x Aero. I'm looking to replace my timing belt and I am just wondering what the best kit is these days. Aisin is my top pick at this point but I can't seem to find any recent reviews of any kits. Gates sounds too sketch and I haven't seen anything that would indicate their quality has improved. I did do a search but I didn't see anything that was posted in the last couple years but I very well could have missed something.

If you go Aisin, just make sure it's one that was manufactured in Germany. If Gates then Japan. Unfortunately these days there's a lot of Chinese parts in the timing belt kits. The issue I ran into was the tensioner didn't fit properly and I had to get an OEM. It was the one Chinese part in the Gates kit I bought.

You should be able to ask the vendor where the parts were made. My mistake wasn't asking. In your search I'm sure you've noticed some kits from the same manufacturer are cheaper and other more expensive. The more expensive ones generally have the better parts

I thought Aisin was the golden standard, I didn't realize they are starting to use Chinese parts as well. I just ordered an Aisin kit, so I will make sure to check.

My Aisin kit was made in Japan, which is what I would expect. I've included a picture. Aren't they all made in Japan?
