2010 WRX front O2 Sensor woes
ok, im pulling my hair out trying to find the right O2 sensor for my car.
first off, im NOT going to the dealer and dropping 250 on this when i can get the same sensor on amazon for half (or less) than that. anyway, i need a new front o2, car is surging at cruise/light throttle (surging seen in the AFRs, NOT the manifold pressure pressure is steady when this happens) similar to someone very lightly pulsing the throttle. google searching yields that the front o2 is likely the culprit, and with 107,xxx mi and counting, im sure that's it. but im having trouble pinning down the exact sensor that i need. im not going to play mix and match with a ton of different sensors to find the right one. and all of the o2 sensor threads here are for GD's, which dont seem to be compatible with my car anyway. one thing that seems to pop up when searching for a sensor via online sites like RockAuto, or advanced auto, etc, is EJ257 vs EJ255. i assume this is WRX vs STi? why do they have different part numbers? would it make a difference if i used one vs the other? theres also a large price disparity. im finding the front sensor to be more expensive generally, but im also seeing SOME retailers list something as upstream while other list the same part as downstream. some retailers will list a part as compatible, and others will list the same part as incompatible. can anyone list the part numbers for the FRONT O2 sensor for the 2010 WRX: Denso NGK NTK Bosch (you can insert your opinion of the sensor brands if you feel it's worth noting)

ok a quick call to IAG, and they confirmed for my car Denso # 234-9035 for the 2010 WRX
apparently the WRX and STi DO use different sensors and are incompatible with each other (same plug), which is the most retarded thing ever. and Advanced Auto's website says this part does not fit my car LOL Last edited by gsrcrxsi; 11-05-2013 at 08:23 PM. |

I bought the denso part number listed above for $97 +$3 shipping from rockauto.com
And to think, if advance auto had it in stock, I probably would have paid the $200 for it. |

just take off the passenger wheel and its right there. a o2 sensor socket makes it alot easier. good luck man.mine actually threw a code for a bad front sensor. the denso has been fine since. oem is crazy expensive and they say denso on them! look at yours when you remove it. |

So just for reference.
The Denso 234-9035 part number listed above IS the EXACT same part as the OEM sensor. Literally. Not just OEM "spec" or "type" or any of the nonsense. The same exact one. For whatever reason Denso has simply scratched off the serial number to sell them cheaper LOL. This is how the sensor came out of the sealed bag. Hilarious. |

wow, and just yesterday i went on subaruonlineparts and saw $197! thank god i came across this thread lol
did replacing your O2 solve your problems? i'm having this idle problem where sometimes, when i start the car, the afr is unsettling with a low rpm idle, or ridiculously rich with a low idle, no cels in both scenarios. and im debating between maf and O2 as the culprit |

Yes my issues are solved.
However it's a toss up if the o2 was the problem. One of the vac lines from the EBCS was partially pinched too. And I fixed that at the same time. |

Sorry to bump an old thread but I got the same Denso part number as mentioned and an curious where the connector plugs into? The wire on the sensor looks pretty short.
