My jumper batteries in the garage are red Optima 'BLEM' marked red tops. They've been good since I picked them both up in 2001 and one of the two was used in a car between 2004-2011. That said, they're heavy, shaped odd, and are more of a utility battery than a lightweight option.

You could try running a bank of supercaps. People have done this in the car audio world for a while now. Replacing the underhood and rear bats with supercaps. In one instance just having a single small 12v lithium in parallel.

Interesting! I've thought about battery relocation, but something like this would be better when you consider the weight of cables I would think. |

Check out this kit. 6lb total and comes with a antigravity battery that has a low voltage cut off and overcharging protection. 680 cranking amps too.
