Especially curious about 2.34’s with relatively smaller turbos.
I dont think you understand the whole idea of what the 2.34 is supposed to be. its a rev monster. So a small turbo would be not work very well on that engine

Small is always relative. While most of the motors have been paired with 35R or larger turbos, I remember this from a while ago:

https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...&postcount=169

I would say an HTA Green is smaller, but that is just me.

As always, thank you to the contributors!

I want to put a 7163 onto the next 2.34 I do. Not going for kill mode but fun without the torque spike you get on a 2.5.

Final results:

Very impressed with results so far. We had to limit boost on E85 since we maxed the injectors (93%). TMIC was also limiting we had quite high temperature. Probably close to a point where a closed deck would be a good idea. Last point I wanted to rev up to 8500 but the ECU started acting weirdly pass 8000 and we had to stop. It's a 04 STI ECU, could be limited as they were upgraded from 05 and up.

Tx to EFI Logics, Calvin, Cory, Pete, Ben all professionnals, they did a crazy jobs. http://www.efilogics.com/

Tx a lot to Freedom Shop for the custom turbo setup http://freedomshop.ca/

I've not driven the car yet on track, will have to wait a few weeks before I autocross it. Car is built for hardcore autocrossing. It was a bit of a gamble to test that turbo and try a destroke 2.35 at the same time. Looks like there is more to this turbo and that the 550 would have probably given similar result with even better spool. I'll report back with more info once I tested it on the track.

Expension plan for the future would be to go up to 8500-9000rpm to help with short gearing of the subaru in autocross. I could also try a slighly higher compression ratio (9.0 or 9.5) to help with spool and response. Anybody that reached 9k rpm and would like to share info on how to achieve this you can contact me in private

I've got a 2.1 running ELH, 256 cams, ported heads (non avcs) and a big16g on 18.5psi tapering to 17.5psi. Only a baby turbo as I still run a 5 speed. Makes 290whp/300ftlbs.
Being a GC8 is still plenty fast, would probably do a 105-106mph with a good launch.

Need to get a GTX30xx and a 6 speed for a street weapon.

I have a Darton sleeved 2.1L stroker in my kitchen.

EJ205 halves
Darton stepped sleeves
Manley Turbo Tuff I Beam
CP 92.5mm Pistons Swaintech coated skirts and domes
EJ257 Nitrided 79mm Crank

Going into a 1999 STi, will be using my Ver6 EJ207 Non-AVCS heads and some 272 cams with a Garrett Gen2 GTX3584RS turbo.

Yeah I'm considering it, and I might wait to see what the G35 turbos are all about when they come out.

I figured on maybe 4800-5000 with the current plan.

I'm also trying to figure out what people are revving to with the extra stroke, hopefully I can still achieve 8,500 safely.

Maybe a saving grace is that in expecting it to be around 9.5:1 so might help pack a little extra punch down low.

Should be fine taking 2.1 to 8500 assuming the oil pressure holds well

I'd look into trading/selling GTX3584r for a GTX3576r. The 84 will be a dog compared to the 76 and doubt the extra power will make up for it.

What do you use the car for and what's your power goal?

I was considering the GTX3576r as well.

I was hoping that on E85 and over 35psi (I say that loosely, hopefully i can test my luck and go higher even with the 9.5:1 comp) i could try for as close to 1,000 or so.

Really just street and track double duty, I have a RSTi that I'm building for the daily duty.

its going to be a dog on the street, I have a 3067 with tomei pon cams and it doesnt really hit power til 4200 so with that big fo a turbo its not going to hit power til like 5000ish.. just saying

I figured as much, i'm ok with late peak boost.

My 04 sti didn't get it until 4300 on a 3582r (30psi)

I say you only get lag once when you're going for it

i guess.. my car is a 2.1 with v9 heads and tomei cams with a 3067 spoolinator kit. its fun and my power band is from 4000 to 8000. I wasnt looking for a huge peak boost, but I have about 400 and im pretty happy with that. the first tuen I got was on the usdm ecu and that sucked.. no power below 4100, but it was night and day when I got my avcs working. how the power is more linear and it feels like it starts to pull at 3700 all the way to red line. great for the street but yeah to each their own.

Yeah maybe the GTX3576r may be a better choice, I was hoping to get close to 650whp minimally, on E85.

I hope with the Darton sleeves, my limiting factor would be fueling and not the block itself.
