'05 STi complete strut units
Howdy folks.
I was going to use these on my old '97 Legacy Outback to lower it and replace the aging originals, sold the car instead. These are clean, 26K original miles, no rust. The only issue is the that threads on one of the front struts were damaged, probably by not getting the nut tight enough at some point. I used a Snap-On cleanup die on it, and the top cm or so has good threads. My plan was to stack hardened washers on top of the tophat to cover the damaged threads, there is plenty of room to get the nut tightened down so it is completely on the good strut threads. There is no reason this shouldn't work just fine, perfectly safe and all. $250 picked up, really don't want to hassle with shipping and it would be expensive. Thanks, Doug P.S. I need to dig them out of the garage to get pics, but the threads are the only issue and a pretty minor one IMHO... Last edited by dvancleve; 04-29-2015 at 01:19 AM. |
