Just glad to see Ferrari can build a competitive car. Now some better strategy.

Damn I miss v10s and refueling.

Re: Vettel retiring
Kinda sad to see him leave but I think it's the right decision. I can't believe he's one of the old guard now, he was basically a kid when he got his first full season. I actually didn't like him during his dominant years in Red Bull. But since 2015 I've slowly warmed up to Seb, and you don't become a 4-time world champion for no reason (though some of the reasons DO include blown diffusers and Adrian Newey). I like Alonso as well and if he stays competitive next year, that's great, but if it turns into a season or two in the back of the midfield or lower then retirement this year will have looked like a better option.

Nice! Must have been amazing and deafening to watch those races during the V12-V10 era. I finally made it to the grand prix in Montreal in 2019 after 10 years of planning and not following through. I sat in either the same grandstand or the one next to it. Didn't see as much action at the hairpin as I thought I would, but maybe 2019 was just an off year for that.

We spent most years in the same seats on the hairpin exit. Lots of action there over the years. I almost caught Jean Alesi's helmet when he tossed it into the stands. The person two rows in front of me caught it. Dave Coltard sat on the wall there for most of a session once. Back when the driver controlled boost, you could see them crank the knob in the cockpit and see the black tire marks. I have pictures from Friday mornings when there were just a few people in the stands. I remember having to cover are noses when one of the cars caught on fire back when the cars were running rocket fuels.

I remember talking to one of the Vendors who had the spot right across from the bridge onto that end of the island, he paid $10,000 for the spot, that would have been about 1994.
I ran into Jackie Stewart once as he was walking around the corner from the motor home, I had to jump out of his way, or we would have bumped into each other, that was about 1985.

Sorry to ramble on, you got me started down memory lane.

Yep, looks like not much he could have done. He did make a few passes early on in the wet, I think he moved up 9 places in a few early laps.

Can an Alpine win?
Can Lewis get his 1st win?
Somehow, someway, you know Ferrari will screw this up.

Pretty much written Ferrari off for this year unless they really get their act together. Will be rooting for Alpine this race (hoping they can avoid bad luck and Ferrari-level "race strategy" and run away from the M-B duo).

good recovery by Leclerc. By trying to get the fast lap Leclerc gets a 5 sec. penalty for speeding in pit lane. So Leclerc loses 1 point instead of gaining 1 point.
Haas, McLaren nowhere.

Piastri drives for McLaren in 2023, Alpine and Szafnauer are looking like complete and utter idiots, especially when hiring Gasly for 2023. Ricciardos F1 days are over.

Once again Ferrari can't finish a race without screwing something up:
Sianz pitcrew not ready
Unsafe release.
Whats going on with Bottas? He was doing so well at the beginning of the season.

Who knew Tsunoda had a sensor in his car to tell him to stop for a critical Redbull strategy error. Seems even he didn't know, and brought it all the way into the pits, so they had to send him back out on track to do it properly.

Honda hinted that they may come back in the near future and they don't want Porsche looking at their engine.
