Default Ej207 cold start

I have an 02 wrx with a ej207 swap Version 8 engine and trans. Anyway when it first starts the boost gauge flutters like crazy . If I attempt to drive right away it feels like it has no power and will barely go 20mph. After a few mins of warmup it drives normally but still has the boost gauge flutter. I have changed almost all of the pcv hoses . My car does have a ver1 Crawford AOS, with the pcv valve removed and blocked off per the instructions. What could cause this

I let my single avcs engines idle 3 minutes before I take off but cold idle cycle is smooth and normal. My ver 7 STi engine started to cold idle rough and turns out compression is low on cylinder 4. Possibly a leaking exhaust valve is what was diagnosed in my case.

That could indicate a stuck/tight valve, or burnt valve.
A boost gauge is nothing more than a vacuum gauge that also reads positive pressure. One of the most overlooked diagnostic tools (and essential for us folks that grew up tuning engines with carburetors) is a vacuum gauge.
Here's a chart to help you.
