So I got one of these Joying units. John Nguyen on YouTube recommended buying the Toyota Hilux cable they sell for people that have Harmon Kardon units. I figured it was $20 so I'd just try it. It works for the most part. I found that the Left/Right rear audio channels were swapped so I need to switch those. However, The Amp Con wire that tells the HK amp to turn on wasn't connected to anything. I think it needs to put on the 10-pin harness in the pin 9 socket. I want to try that but I need to find out what kind of pins go in that harness. Does anyone know where I can buy one?

If I remember correctly the orange (or blue?) amp wire needs to be tapped for power. My harness didn't power the amp so I tapped it myself.

So for no good reason my bluetooth feature on my octane core unit from GreenYi stopped working today. Doesn't show up as a discoverable device on my phone anymore. Has anyone had this happen to them?

MY19/20 limited with nav and harman Kardon - which wire do I tap for the harman amp turn-on from the vehicle side? I am reading either +12v or or blue amp turn-on wire is sufficient from aftermarket head unit side.
Thanx, Justin |

I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and now the Easy Connection app that mirrors my phone to the headunit won't allow me to use the headunit as a touch screen like the phone. So I can't switch between apps, i cant type in adresses into Waze or Google Maps, or anything like that from the headunit. I need to use the phone as the touch screen. Anyone know of a setting in the phone that needs to be adjusted for that functionality to work again?

did a bit more research and currently, the Easy Connection App developers are looking for a way for it to gain access to the phone with Android 10. Hopefully there will be an update with this feature soon, but in the meantime, it will just mirror your phone screen on the headunit without control through the headunit.
"Android system started to limit the access right which made Android 10 users cannot control from the car display anymore. We apologize for it, we've tried lots of solutions, but no one can solve it. Otherwise, we will launch personal software for Android car" https://apkpure.com/easyconnection/n...onn.carman.wws |

Does your phone show up in the bluetooth devices? I remember getting issues trying to delete my phone. Try to see if you can delete it and reconnect.

Are these head units any good? From watching a few reviews people said they feel cheap and don’t always work the best but I’m looking for a new head unit for my outback let me know what is the best for the price

I've had mixed outcomes with them. I think some of the newer versions of the andriod headunits work significantly better than the older ones. I also think that picking one that's specific to the car instead of a generic unit makes a big difference. Used essentially this same unit in a E39 BMW and it was fine until some of the internal wiring started failing in about a year.

I purchased one used for about $200 on Facebook. They look awesome because of the huge screen and give you loads of features and functionality. But at the end of the day they are cheap and don't always work. The Bluetooth on the unit I had would never work properly. I would have to manually pair my phone every time if I wanted to listen to music. I ended up selling it for $250 and purchased a Sony XAV AX5000. In my opinion, these units are nothing but an android tablet snuck into a car audio din. I recommend getting a proper double din radio from a brand such as Sony, Kenwood, or JVC. Take a look at the AX 5000 or the brand new AX 5500 by Sony.

Just bought a new android 10.0 seicane to replace my old android 8.0 headunit. I wanted it to be plug and play with my custom T harness I bought the same brand since it uses the same harness. This one includes DSP and the IPS touch screen. Installed it yesterday and so far everything works. I never had bluetooth issues and it never restarted on me. I kept wifi off unless needed for updates because that caused low level static sounds. Glad my new one doesn't!
From what I researched, there are newer/better ones out there like the new Joying and new Dasaita. They use a different harness and are shipped from overseas. I don't recommend other brands or cheaper ones since they come with 2gb RAM, older Android versions and poor quality control. There's plenty of youtube videos reviewing the newer ones if you want to get a feel of what you're actually getting. |

I had a Joying one for years in my 08. Loved it, especially being able to run Torque Pro - it was my default screen. No issues with the integrated satnav, the radio or MP3 playback either.

I have an iDoing that came with Android 10. When ever there is an update for the head unit operating system, is there a generic file that will work for all of them? I ask because even if I connect my head unit to my home wifi, I cant click system update.

Yeah I'm guessing it is a file you have to have. Was wondering if the file worked for all Android HU or if it's brand specific?
Randomly had an issue with my iPhone 12 Max and my HU. CarPlay was working flawless, music working fine, maps working fine... then suddenly no media would play. Maps still work fine, but no music or in app sounds. But if you pressed anything on the head unit it would still chirp. Even while connected via cable. Anyone had an issue like this? I've formatted my HU and phone thinking some settings got switched but still nothing . |
