Default Used pistons in ej205

I dropped one of my pistons in my ej205 and it got dented. Can I re-use a set of used pistons from another shortblock if I use new piston rings ? Both are standard bore size. Or does the piston itself somehow wear to match the block. Both block never had any compression issues and have good cylinder walls. I have re-honed the block I intend to use.

you can use a used piston, just measure the bore to verify how much gap there is. new rings will be a good idea. Is it a cast factory piston that got dented or a forged?

It is a cast factory piston that took the small dent. I can sand away the dent and it will not interfere with the cylinder wall in any way

Stock Subaru pistons are graded by diameter, "A" or "B". At a minimum, I'd make sure you are swapping like for like.

Honestly, though, if it were me I'd go buy a new piston. It's cheap insurance. Are you sure you didn't do any other damage?
